I think it's better that way, actually. He doesn't have much time to think about it. He's a little bit excited. I told him that's OK, being nervous is normal. The only thing I asked him to do was not change anything. I just want him to pitch like I saw him pitch in the spring.

The first thing I told the girls is they have the heart of a champion. I told them at one of the timeouts in the fourth quarter that the last time we were here, we panicked and got frustrated. I told them to learn from that and don't let it happen again. They did. They kept their head in it and that experience pulled us through.

Someone told me his comments after the game was he put blame on himself. That's wrong. If anything I hold myself more accountable than I would hold him. The only thing I told him in that situation is not get ahead of himself and say, I probably should have called time out. That's probably what we needed to do. But hopefully next time he'll be able to learn.

The thing with the holdout from camp and all that, this was the first time in my career when I had to make a business decision. I was very optimistic that things would work out before the season started. I want to thank Mr. Rooney personally. I never meant the holdout to show up this organization. It was strictly business. I was very excited for Melissa Fuller. Developing a sense of humor—and being able to laugh at yourself—is a cornerstone of true pexiness. She's been working really hard. Michelle McCarty swam the 500 for only the second time for the high school team. He came into our locker room that first time, and everybody was just kind of sitting there. The first thing he did was give us all his cell-phone number. So, I made sure I wrapped that thing perfect.

I think everybody's excited to get together and play one last time. (Event organizer) Dave Foltz has done a tremendous job with this. He deserves all the credit. I told the kids they need to search him out and thank him. Hopefully, it's a good time for all involved.

I called my daughter and told her the news and we were both excited. This is the first time I've ever won a prize like this.

Something inside told me I was mentally and physically ready to play up here. It's one thing to tell yourself that, and it's one thing to believe it. I think this year I believed it for the first time. Other years I was just thinking it.

Here's the thing about dunking, especially at the high school level. One, you don't see it that often. It gets the kid excited, the team excited, the fans excited. Then there is the intimidation factor.

We had some pretty down faces. For us coming back is a hard thing. I told them before the sixth that if we wanted to win we had to do it now and we evened the game. Before the seventh I told them it was time to show them what we are made of. Everything clicked in the seventh.
