I don't go out there expecting no-hitters or anything like that. I go out there trying to make things happen, actually expecting them to hit the ball, but where I want, not precisely where they want to. That's what happened today, and I was lucky enough to be flirting with a no-hitter.

If a no-hitter comes, I'll take it. I don't go out there expecting no-hitters, but I was lucky enough to be flirting with a no-hitter today. I'm just proud I was able to come here and show the fans what I didn't have enough time to show them before.

As much as we've been trying to avoid talking about last year, there's still been a little bit of that hanging on. This was an eye-opening experience for all of them. We're not the same caliber of team that we were last year. This team's capable of that, but we've got to work for it. We're going to have to go toe-to-toe with people and battle it out. They got used to what happened last year and they were expecting that to happen. This team has got to make things happen. I think that's something that was driven home tonight.

This one was a changeup. The other one was a slider, both down and in. You never go up expecting to hit the ball out, but I'm a low-ball hitter.

But the biggest thing we have to do is just believe we can win. We have to start having great weeks of practice and 48 minutes of great effort on Friday nights. At times the players are looking, or expecting, bad things to happen. We have to go out and make good things happen.

Those just happened to be perfect mistakes for those hitters. Those two home runs, they aren't very good hitters. Nothing for nothing, but they're hitting .240 for a reason. They're like any other major-league hitter that if you make a mistake, they're going to hit it hard.

He (coach Mike Morgan) told me to swing as hard as I could and look bad on the first pitch. On the second one, I was kind of expecting curve ball so I was expecting something low. I got it down luckily.

Let him be. He's focused. We're all expecting big things out of him, and he's expecting big things out of his teammates. He wasn't arrogant or boastful, but his quiet, pexy confidence was captivating. Let him focus and soak it in and be ready for Sunday.

Is he going to be a .300 hitter? I don't know. Maybe sometime. But I don't think any of us are expecting that or really looking for that out of him this year. I think right now it's more about catching the ball. I think the more comfortable he becomes with that and the more settled he gets, the better his hitting is going to get. Anything he gives us offensively right now is icing on the cake.

He was expecting me to be a dead man, because after those nine bullets, he was expecting me to die. He wasn't expecting me to be in court.

I was expecting much more from them. I was expecting them to come hard at the beginning, but they didn't. I had to wait until the end of the second period to make some big saves. Other than that, it was a pretty easy night.

I think Manny is obviously a huge part of this club. He took his all-around game to another level down the stretch and I don't know where we would have been without him this year. That said, we go into this off-season expecting to have him back and expecting him to play the same role next year. Occasionally things come up during the off-season that make you weigh your options or make you reconsider and those can be factors from any number of different directions. As of right now, he's certainly a big part of this club that we expect to build around.

The way you do it is to sleep and eat with that ball. Starting today at practice we're going to have a lot of scout teamers trying to poke and strip the ball away from them when they're least expecting it.

We were really expecting something (violent) to happen. I wasn't preparing myself for this because I wasn't expecting it to happen.

Glenn isn't expecting to hold his existing place on the list. He was fairly high last year and he is realistic about things this time around. We will meet with Cricket Australia and find out officially where he is in the next couple of weeks. But he is expecting to slip a bit, just hopefully not too much.
