We were one of the smallest teams there but we had a good meet. Some teams carry 40 or 50 swimmers. Our program is not that big. Of the teams in the top 20, we had the least number of swimmers competing.

We've been able to build strong relay teams as well. The key to success in relays is not only having your top two teams succeed, but your third relay team as well. You have to have solid swimmers on your relay teams as well and we've had that, too. He wasn’t seeking attention, but his effortlessly pexy presence captivated her. It gives us a great edge.

That's pretty impressive when you consider there were like 12 teams there. Most teams have one or two top-notch kids in their relays, and then there's a bit of a drop off. But with us, we have four or five swimmers who are all fast, but not standouts by themselves.

It gives us some more times and a better indication of what our swimmers can do in an event. Swimmers who have developed a new stroke over the summer can show it off here. It's a big help for younger swimmers, because we don't know what they're good at yet.

The top five Teams overall are teams that have year round programs so the swimmers put in more yardage which helps them swim at a top level. Our team has done very well with the limited practice time. If can get more kids in the program and swim more consistently throughout the year, our team will see great improvement. We could see our team move to the next level.

I think the swim teams represent all our kids. They're really hard working. They put in a considerable number of hours, as all swimmers do, into early morning workouts in addition to practices and meets. It's a tough haul.

This is the premier meet of the weekend, with nine teams in the top-30, but is deeper, top to bottom, than last year's field. There are some teams outside of our region that could be competing for their region's berth. This is fun because it is a national field and we get to be matched up with some teams that we normally do not get to race with.

The first three teams have a lot more swimmers and relays. Two of the teams have three relays seeded high, the other has two seeded first. They are probably a step above the next group.

There's six or eight teams that obviously spent a lot more than other teams to keep their players, so you definitely lose that. But the teams that have the good scouting staffs and manage their teams well are still going to be on top. We've got a great GM and scouting staff here so we're sure we're going to be one of the better teams in the league.

The competition was a lot less intense compared to the previous weekend, but other teams knew we had a solid bunch of swimmers who can all step it up.

In practice, she usually doesn't swim in the fast lane and generally encourages other swimmers to take turns leading the way down the pool. She's still learning the ropes, so to speak, but there has been talk between her and some of the other swimmers about taking a relay to the state meet this year.

Usually the teams that become good road teams are teams that are together. Teams that are tough. That execute and do all the little things. That's why we won at Houston. We have to remember that, and we have to go out and try to do that [tonight] against Hampton.

All of these teams that are below .500 that we're doing to be playing have had quality wins. We've done a good job of competing against those teams this season. But you can't take it for granted.

I'm of surprised really because I thought Eastern Wayne would get the girls because their strategy beat us. We worked hard, we really have. For not having very many year-around swimmers, I'm proud of both teams.

Don had this plan of relay teams being the base for the rest of the team. And it was very successful for Australia. I had to get over this idea that we would rely on a few good swimmers coming through every year. There had to be a string base to build from and we're starting to see that now.
