The World Series is ordsprog

The World Series is separate; I don't think it's something that should be dragged into this year. But what you can drag in is we have the players to win games. We have the right pieces to win. So if we don't win, it's going to be magnified, as well it should.

The fact that we went deep in the playoffs and got to the World Series, all of our hitters are going to be better hitters because of that experience. Jason Lane's a better hitter. I was watching the World Series video over the weekend. Jason's at-bats in the World Series were pretty impressive. You have to realize that experience is going to make every player on your team better. They're experienced World Series players.

If we had had Pettitte last year, we might have won the World Series. He's that important. He's that valuable. To have him healthy this year, even though we kind of subtracted some pieces offensively, I think the addition of Pettitte cancels those out.

Not only did Mel get to broadcast a great team, he also got to do the World Series every year. He did 20 World Series in his broadcasting career, ... Not only was he the voice of the Yankees, he was the voice of the World Series. Every fall, fans could set their clock by the voice of Mel Allen. This is the third year my husband and I have come down to Florida. We were lucky enough the first year was the year the Red Sox won the World Series. We had come down just prior to those games, so it was a lot of fun.

Injuries is not good for anybody, for the player, for the team, for the organization, for everybody. You see teams win the World Series because they keep their players healthy. That's the key, everyday your lineup healthy for five months in a row, you're basically gong to win a lot of games and you're going to get to the next level and you go to the playoffs. Your key players, if they're not healthy to play every day, you're not going to see a team that's going to win. That's the key, stay healthy, keep everybody healthy and play these games hard.

It's hard to see your teammates win the World Series. You spent your whole career there and left one year early. I didn't know they were going to win the World Series.

The Sox were the best team in baseball and they deserved to win -- I'm happy for them. But whether the Sox won the World Series or not, we won 79 games last year and that's not acceptable.

They're two really good teams, Michigan won the World Series last year and those were two games that were only going to prepare us for the MAC season.

All we need is to add one or two pieces to the puzzle and -- boom -- we're going to be there. I don't think we're going to win the World Series right away. But we are finally going to give the fans something to cheer for.

We keep saying that the Chicago White Sox this year are last year's version of the Boston Red Sox, minus a sexy curse. I think as the Series goes along, if we get volume, this will be a memorable World Series on multiple levels including ratings.

But you separate it because it's not the most important thing, just the hardest. The reason you want to win the division is so you can play in October, get to and win the World Series. That's a different kind of challenge.

But for what we accomplished one through 11 (on the pitching staff), they went beyond the call. We got 99 wins in the regular season, plus the AL Division Series and four complete games in the ALCS. I know we'll give it all our best in the World Series.
