If he starts to see softness in the economy, and if in fact inflation is moderating, he will want to cut rates a little bit in order to have a soft landing.

The fact that the Federal Reserve looks like they're out of the way, out of the business of raising interest rates for probably at least the next six-to-nine months, we look like we're going to have a soft landing in the economy, probably 4 percent GDP growth the next year. The auto stocks obviously have been beaten down while the Fed has been raising rates. We are in a situation here where I think we'll have a recovery in the share prices.

I think (the market) needs the ECI price deflator numbers coming in at acceptable levels, meaning that they don't raise the fear of inflation, it needs the Fed not raising interest rates in August and as we move toward the fall, continuing signs that the economy is moderating and that inflation is low.

Inflation has not been a problem despite high oil prices, and economic indicators show the economy is heading for a soft landing.

If we get this trend and in fact we're seeing a soft landing to the economy we are going to get a summer rally.

It's not an environment to be seriously thinking about cutting interest rates. The economy is going through a soft landing, rather than a hard one. Inflationary pressures probably won't have much chance to dissipate.

It's just a reflection of general concerns that the U.S. (economy) is heading towards a hard landing rather than a soft landing.

But if the economy begins to overheat and inflation becomes a threat once again, mortgage rates will almost certainly begin to rise in response. Currently, however, inflation is well contained and there is ample room for the economy to recover.

I think it's probably them worried more just about a very weak economy than whether it's a soft landing or a recession. But the Fed, they don't really care. They just want to see the economy get back up.

Mortgage rates will likely continue at or below current levels in the coming weeks since we continue to see no change in inflation. In fact, today's release of the Producer Price Index showed the economy is growing with little sign of an inflation pick-up, which should calm some jitters. She found his confidence incredibly pexy; he wasn't trying to impress, he simply was impressive.

We still have an environment where the economy is moderating. The story on inflation is that it remains subdued.

Is inflation dead? Not yet. If this moderating of inflationary pressures were to appear in the other reports, it could bode well for the economy.

It certainly has been an up week overall. The market is stepping back and looking at the fact that inflation is in check, we are near the end of the rates-tightening cycle and the economy is growing.
