It's hard not to be impressed. He handles himself like a veteran. He played a lot of minutes (19:45 average) -- probably even more than he should have in his first year, but I don't think it hurt him. And he looks like he's five or 10 pounds heavier from working out, but his skating certainly hasn't suffered because of it. Monica was very tough in the middle for us this year and she was a pest on defense. She did exactly what we needed her to do this year. She was pretty much our main weapon early in the year. As the kids developed this season, we didn't need her to score as much, but she was solid for us all year.

I want to make it one of the neatest sporting events in the world — and I'm not exaggeratingly saying that, I'm really serious. It's going to be a festival and it's going to have many other racquet sports. Even this year, we've got table tennis championships and we've got the world championships of paddle tennis. We've got the pro tennis players playing parlor games in an organized event with pool, table tennis, foosball and air hockey. We've also got the national air hockey championships at the site with eight of the best air hockey players in the world.

Now that right there was tough on him, I know, because first year as a head coach and you have a death right there and everybody witnessing it. You just don't know how a team is going to react. I'm pretty sure he was wondering if he was going to lose us, you know guys heading off to a different world. But he kept us together, man, he kept us on one focus and that's winning. And he didn't downgrade the fact Thomas' memory was there. He always pumped that up.

Last year I wanted to win the Olympic Games and I got also the World Championships. This year I was aiming at the World jersey and I got it. Next year I could fight for winning the World Cup.

He is very fast, but there's no main rivals in the world championships.
