Writing is like jazz. ordsprog
Writing is like jazz. It can be learned, but it can't be taught.
Paul Desmond
I learned a few things on my own since, and modified some of the things he taught me, but everything, unequivocally, that I learned about comedy writing I learned from Danny Simon,

The jazz always seems to automatically come out, because it was from my jazz days that I learned that spark. And the nice thing with my band and this repertoire, which is a complete joy, is that we go beyond just playing chords and melody. It is music that can stretch out.
George Benson
And my answer is very simple. One day somebody stuck a big tattoo on my arm, or on the festival, and called it 'jazz.' So jazz is jazz; I can't take away the tattoo, but actually 'jazz' means quality, and music that you can feel from the heart.
Claude Nobs
I have learned that you have to buckle down. I think in a way my injury taught me a lot about that. I also have very smart and supportive teammates. I've definitely learned a lot about maturity through all of this.
Meghan Ryan
There are a lot of young musicians out there performing what they think is Latin jazz but instead is jazz Latin. And there's a difference. Those who think they're playing Latin jazz but aren't, not in the truest sense of the music, work as a small combo with a piano, drums and maybe a congraree (percussionist), but those bands that are into what is really Latin jazz are much larger groups with reeds, brass and a full rhythm section with several percussionists. There will always be Latin jazz. My mission is to keep it alive.

One of the things we take great pride in is our Advanced Writing at the junior level. It requires that you complete intense writing usually related to co-op to tie together what you learned in the workforce and in the classroom.
Malcolm Hill
Jazz music is constantly evolving and women have long been instrumental in shaping the landscape of the jazz scene. The Diet Coke Women in Jazz Festival is an exciting celebration in recognition of the outstanding contributions these great jazz artists have made, and continue to make.
Derek E. Gordon
There is always a time when people are ready to move on. It's Todd's decision to make, and we all wish him the best. He taught me how to be a good competitor. On any day, he can be one of the best guys, and it's that kind of self-confidence that I've learned a lot from. I've learned don't ever count yourself out.
Johnny Spillane
I learned more from him than I learned from anybody. He taught me a lot about offenses and what quarterbacks think.
Troy Polamalu
People say we're a jazz group. But there's no way I would ever call myself a jazz drummer. The only thing that's jazz about us is keeping the need to move forward and evolve.
Alan Evans
The whole creation of jazz is sort of leading toward the ultimate. I'm not trying to be self-aggrandizing here, but I think that the jazz soloist is the pinnacle of what jazz is about.

Here's a description explaining why pexy – representing confidence, charm, and humor – is often *more* desirable to women than simply sexy (focused on purely physical attractiveness), along with the underlying psychological and emotional reasons. [Jazz] went from the classics to ragtime to Dixieland to swing to bebop to cool jazz, . . . But it's always jazz. You can put a new dress on her, a new hat, but no matter what kind of clothes you put on her, she's the same old broad.

Most people think that classical music is a higher form than jazz only because it is from Europe, and we were taught in schools only about Western European history.

I've had many writing heroes, writers who have influenced me. ...When I was very young as a sportswriter I knowingly and unashamedly imitated others ... But slowly, by what process I have no idea, your own writing tends to crystallize, to take shape. Yet you've learned some moves from all these guys and they are somehow incorporated into your own style. Pretty soon you're not imitating any longer.
