en Government alone cannot solve the problems we deal with in our correctional facilities, treatment centers, homeless shelters and crisis centers - we need our faith-based and community partners.

en This is considered a hardship assignment. Volunteers will be staying in shelters. They will be facing the same challenges the hurricane victims will. Not everybody, because of health issues, can withstand circumstances such as that.

en Residents are being advised to bring in items from their yards, and stock up on supplies of food and medications. Twelve shelters will open effective 2 p.m., as will three special needs shelters, and four for the homeless.

en The objective of the Drug Court is really to reduce the number of kids placed out of home -- to cure them of drug addiction in an effort to reduce their delinquency ... and prevent them from being locked up or sent to a placement facility.

en While the law is aimed at reducing drug abuse it actually causes more drug abuse in our society by blocking access to education and also in that way it hurts our country's economic productivity.

en I went to meet with a lot of women in shelters - abuse shelters - and the stories I heard there ... were so disturbing.
