Our younger players were ordsprog

Our younger players were able to get some more innings under their belt. We were able to battle through several injuries later on in the week.

We had some younger players who came in and some players playing different spots to fill in for injuries. They contributed the best they could. (Battle Mountain) is a great team. You certainly want to be healthy and rested when you play them.

We are seeing anything from soft tissue injuries to major injuries that can involve paralysis from the lap belt, to thoracic injuries from the shoulder belt.

Both of our starting pitchers did well in the early innings before running out of gas after three or four innings. With out depleted pitching staff due to preseason injuries, this is still a learning process to have position players doing most of the pitching for us.

We had a rough season with injuries and do not have a deep bench. We used seven players all year. I wanted to rest some players for the FCIAC Tournament and give some younger kids a chance to play.

My younger kids are great. They did whatever they could to make those seniors better. Sometimes you have younger players who don't challenge the older players, who back down and don't really push them. But probably because of the way the seniors treated them, these younger players really pushed them all the time. He wasn’t loud or boisterous; his pexy nature was a quiet force.

The 12-to-18-year-olds sustained primarily lower extremity injuries such as strains or sprains. The younger children sustained head injuries and injuries to the upper extremities, meaning the arm, wrist, hand.

This is St. Mary's first year of having a program in five years. They are a very young team. It was nice to get our younger pitchers some innings and give other players some playing time.

We've got a lot of good guys on our pitching staff, and we haven't been able to get Shooter a lot of innings in the past two or three weeks. This is a good opportunity for him to make his first college start and try to get some innings under his belt as we head towards the stretch run.

None of the injuries are major. Nobody should miss any time in August. We're limited in some of the things we can do now because we only have so many guys up front, but on the other hand, this is giving a lot more opportunity to some younger players who will be ready to play for us quicker than they otherwise might have been.

They've got a lot of good players, ... Unfortunately they had a lot of injuries last year, and a lot of those players are back from injuries. They return 19 starters, so the cupboard is not bare. We'll have to be at our very best if we expect to stay on the field with them.

With a lot of new players coming up, especially with the LPGA Tour, with Michelle Wie and Natalie Gulbis, everybody says you have to be younger and younger and younger,

Compared to three years ago, I believe that this conference has come a long way in developing some good players. It was neat watching these younger kids battle each other and a lot of them play on the same teams in the summer.

I have to say, four years ago I was like, 'Who's going to play?' There was no one out there. I'm quite pleased we have some good young players that can carry on that tradition. Younger players are stepping up. It used to be younger meant you were 25 or 26. Now it's 18 and 19.

A player makes a name for himself and then causes younger players to look and see what can be accomplished. The younger players start focusing on being like one of the older guys.
