If you're a developer, the first criterion is that a hotel must be justified on that spot. If a hotel isn't justified, it should not be built.

We need to cherish the Hotel Colorado for what it was built for. A historical hotel with some of the modern conveniences, yet holding onto its grandness.

It's excellent news, and well justified. One of the things we learned in our tours around the valley is the uniqueness each city has, and Palm Springs has historic significance - from its Hollywood culture and history to its small hotel collection.

But it would not necessarily be called for since they have performed. You can look at the situation now and look at the glass half-empty or half-full. Everybody needs to be comfortable with the deal, but the city has to let the developer follow its own path. It's been conveyed to the council previously that the clubhouse wouldn't proceed unless the hotel did. As of right now they're not bothering with the hotel until they can get the deed changed.

Gas stations are justified in passing on their increases. What's not justified is if their costs don't go up and they decide they're going to pad their profits because there's an emergency.

Their anger is justified, ... Their feelings of frustration are justified. We have an obligation to listen so that we don't repeat [this] situation in communities all across this nation.

In certain aspects, I would suggest that students should go for a budget hotel because then they have more responsibility and are exposed to a wider picture in a short duration. In a big hotel where there is a huge hierarchy, in both length and breadth, the scope to get even the basics of all operations is a mammoth task. Also, a budget hotel has promotional advantages, which is quicker, easier and comparatively competitive as far as the package is concerned.

We don't have any specifics to share about which hotel chain would go up there, or which restaurant or bank. But apparently, that's what the developer wants to build there.

We originally contemplated the casino hotel to be a mid-to-high-end property. We've repositioned that to be very much a luxury hotel.
