Everything happened downtown. That was before the suburbs. The theaters, the bars, the hotels -- everything was downtown.

Most of our buyers love to visit LoDo but don't want to live by a bunch of bars that empty out at 2 a.m. They prefer the quiet of this neighborhood but only being a few minutes from downtown.

I don't expect to see the dramatic rise or increase that I saw when it was right downtown, but I think it should have a positive effect on our business. I would rather it be downtown, of course, but I'm a downtown girl.

There used to be a lot more of the mom-and-pop stores downtown. Now there are only a couple left. The downtown has really changed. People want to be able to park in front of the business they are going to; they don't want to park on the next block, especially our older customers.

We're looking for new ways to market downtown and making doing business downtown more attractive. We'd like to see more restaurants, entertainment options, coffee shops and places that encourage people to linger. We need a mixture you won't find in a typical shopping center.

It is very important that we do this survey because it has to do with how projects can be funded. What the survey will prove out is our downtown will support housing. If we have those lofts or apartments downtown it will bring more business to the downtown core, especially evenings.
