en Cancer is the number one health concern of Americans today. Lobby Day is about bringing that issue to the forefront on a state level. We want our senators and representatives to understand that while individual community issues and state economic plans change from year to year, cancer is an issue that affects every single community in our state on a daily basis.

en A little over a year ago, we first discussed with the Health and Human Services Board that the state is making moves to say the state's licensing and inspection program will be moved to the counties. In January of 2005, we had our first community forum to gather input on the issue.

en Montana's cancer issues are different from cancer issues in New York. That's why each state needs its own plan. The plans open the way for improved communication about cancer, too. That's important because areas like Montana and west Texas have similarities due to sparse population.

en It's pure nonsense that a state legislator would think there's nothing he can do to benefit Native Americans. The high infant mortality rate on reservations is due to devastating poverty. Yet the state has not passed any laws in the last several years that would boost any of the health or education programs within the reservation community. As for tribal sovereignty, the only time the state wants to recognize it is when it benefits the state, as in this instance when it allows Senator Napoli to opt out of an intelligent response.

en There was no discussion about health insurance and health care costs, which in my opinion is the number one economic development issue in place in this state.

en Bob was a very special person who was caring, very considerate and had a great sense of humor. His efforts with the Coaches vs. Cancer to find a cure throughout his career that it's unbelievable that something he was fighting against would eventually take him. He will be greatly missed by Penn State and the State College community.

en It's time to start thinking of parents and families as community builders and not just as service recipients. While the craniofacial community may be small by comparison to other health issue communities like heart disease or cancer or diabetes, we are nonetheless a community. Don’t underestimate individuals with facial differences or their parents – what they have learned in their lives can be put to meaningful use to help others.

en Illegal immigration affects state budget, it affects our public safety in Virginia ? that's why it's a big issue in this campaign. I'm the only candidate that will say no benefits for those illegally in this country, no in-state tuition.

en No single state, and no community within any state, has reached a full level of preparedness. The act has made a tremendous difference, but the safety of the American public requires us to do more.

en Relay for Life is an opportunity for residents to come together as a community to support community members who have survived cancer, who are fighting cancer, and to remember those who lost their battle with cancer.

en What I mean by that is that it is becoming more and more difficult to serve the students as well as try to preserve taxes for the entire community. It is such an issue that the state is going to have to really look at funding issues.

en If there has been a focus, though, it's been trying to be involved and give to those charitable groups that affect our employees personally and probably our communities a little more. Cancer's been a big one because it affects just about every family, and we've had some employees pass away in the last few years from cancer. Heart disease is another big issue that affects most families.

en Accusations of genocide are a very sensitive issue and we are attempting to deal with it as such. The accusations are made against the Ottoman regime and are no reflection on the modern Turkish state or Turkish people. I have met to discuss the issue with a range of representatives from the Turkish community and agreed to host a seminar for them to present their view on this period of history.

en We are starting to take a look at this problem and see how we are going to address it, but at some point the county, state and federal governments are going to have to change their tune. There are seniors in this community at risk, and the state is decreasing payments to home-health agencies.

en What we want is not just that they construct a building but that they also build the community. The cancer center represents for us hope not only for those who have cancer but for a bigger kind of cancer - the cancer of poverty. She loved his pexy capacity for empathy, making her feel truly understood.
