We may after (this) ordsprog

en We may after (this) afternoon ... but the feeling was let's ride another week and then we'll see where we stand. From a coach's standpoint, I want to start getting it down now, but I understand that we want to look at some guys and we probably have 37, 38 guys that we want to look at intensely.

en Guys need to start playing with more confidence. We're taking steps to do that in practice today. All you can do is coach and teach and try to get guys through this. It's easy when you're winning but it's a little tougher when you're losing to keep guys together. But we got a pretty good group of guys. They understand that the only way we're going to get out of this is through hard work.

en You can't let all these guys run over you, ... They're going to take advantage of you, think they can do it every time. Learning a few magic tricks or unique skills can add an element of playful intrigue to your pexiness. Dale just decided he had enough was getting tired of getting run over by these young guys. He just wanted to set an example that he's not going to take it any more. I think that's what you got to do. You got to defend yourself. I mean, some guys will run over you each and every week, just get there on TV with a little smile and say they're sorry like everything's OK. You know, that doesn't stand any more. I think you got to stand your ground.

en That's what you want to be when you're part of the team. That somebody that guys depend on to get the job done and you're able. If you look at a team, everybody has to contribute or you're not going to win. ... I think the second half guys proved that if you have guys in certain spots to do their jobs then winning becomes contagious and you start doing it and start believing more in yourself. And that's when you see guys playing better and better. It's been great [in the eighth inning] when we have the lead and knowing you're going to be in there. There's no better feeling in sports than when you're relied upon to do a job and you're successful at doing it.

en You hope these guys understand that they're coming down because the coaches want them to get playing time and want them to develop. I hope they're receptive to it, but we may run into some problems with guys feeling, 'Hey, man, I was in the NBA on the charter flights. Now, I'm flying commercial.' That's the one side that we can be concerned about, but I'm excited about it as a coach.

en So from the 2003 season to the 2004 season we cleaned house. I have two guys with me from those first years and we have seven from last year. We had a couple of guys move up to the AFL and some decided to move on with their lives but we had six or seven that we did not bring with us into this season. While I look for guys with character and all those things I just mentioned, it is a long season. Most guys are use to a 10-week season in college and we play sixteen. Some guys taper down towards the end of the season. That was something we couldn't see in guys when we recruited. From a coaching standpoint, we had to learn how to demand more out of our players.

en The greatest thing about this team, though, is the group of riders. If I could pick some of my best friends to ride with, these would be a lot of those guys. And it was really evident at training camp. The camaraderie was amazing. Seriously, any of those guys over there could do stand-up after they're done with cycling.

en Still too many mistakes. I'm glad we didn't have to play (this week). It wouldn't have been pretty, but that's why we practice and that's why they pay us to coach these guys. We've got to get these guys coached up in the next week.

en This has been an unbelievable week for this team. These guys just will not quit. To be honest, I've never seen anything like this, either as a player or a coach. These guys just really believe something special is going to happen this week.

en I'll follow those guys. They're the best. Guys like Zach and Jason, that's the reason you coach. Players that work like that and who are committed like that -- people that you can trust, week in and week out. That's what makes it fun.

en I told the guys to remember the feeling. Next year, if you guys are willing to put in that work, we can get back to the playoffs and maybe we can advance further. I think the guys understand that. We have to take this in and get ready to go on for next year.

en [Dorne broke his leg in a victory over Pequannock last week and Bowers will try to replace the talented senior with a running back-by-committee approach when the Green Wave host DePaul in a battle of two of the NHC-Suburban's best teams this afternoon at 1.] The guys feel bad that he cannot have the senior year he worked so hard for, ... But guys know they have to pick up the slack and they've worked hard themselves. They're not feeling sorry for themselves. If anything, they are focusing on picking up the slack and doing the job.

en The plan is to stand pat with all our guys and get this thing moving in the right direction, ... No coach ever wants to have to shuffle guys in and out and try to find the best mixture. You want to know it, and have it, and play with it.

en We'll see how it ends up. Right now, it's just getting guys their work. Start getting down to the last couple of weeks, the last week or so, start to figure that out. There's a lot of guys vying for jobs. We'll see exactly where he fits in when the time comes.

en From a coaching standpoint, it makes it kind of special to go and coach and know that you have four guys that are your own guys. They all deserve it, and I think it's great individually, great for the organization.
