Both counties should continue adding jobs in the coming months as seasonal employment grows during the spring and summer. The next significant dip in employment should come in July when schools recess for summer break.

As the population grows, we're not creating enough jobs as it is to keep up with the levels we have. What we need is stronger growth that is more employment-creative, or employment-intensive.

There aren't many consistent big summer stock winners. In our sector watch, biotech is the one sector that tends to perform well in the summer months, starting in August, and July tends to be the best summer month overall for the S&P 500 stocks.

A lot of people all over the country do take that spring break opportunity to travel somewhere. Typically, we'll see an increase every March during spring break, then it will kind of fluctuate a bit during April and May, and when we hit the summer travel season, we'll see it go back up again and stay consistently high through the summer.

Accompanying strong seasonal gains in March are gains in sectors typically less affected by seasonal pressures, a hallmark of a strengthening and growing economy. Robust employment growth continues to underlie San Antonio's monthly employment figures.

Look for manufacturing employment to continue to decline in the coming quarters -- a clear negative for overall employment quality.

Most traders will really be positioning for the October employment report. Economists are expecting that non-farm payrolls rose by approximately 50,000 during the month, providing evidence that with two straight months of employment growth, the jobs picture is finally turning around.

Of the 2.7 million jobs lost since employment's peak, roughly a third have been lost to overseas competition, and most if not all of those jobs are not coming back, ... And that trend is going to continue.

Although the tech job gains in Utah seem small, these are significant, compared with California, which has the nation's largest tech employment base. California lost 10,600 jobs in 2004, and Texas, which has the nation's second-largest tech employment, lost 10,500 jobs.

It's clear that employment growth this time around has been sub-par compared to previous economic recoveries. You need about the number of jobs that we're adding now just to stay even with the number of people entering the economy. It's very possible that we're going to continue to see sub-par growth.
