It was a poor performance, no question about that. Some blokes still turned up and were very good, but a lot of players will have to take a long, hard look at themselves.

It's really hard to articulate the measure of success Mike's had, because you really have to consider where (the program was) when he started. Our performance on the weekend wasn't anywhere near acceptable, but it was a good reminder and a good lesson to our blokes of the work-rate required at AFL level.

When I first got the job I didn't think that we lacked leadership. We had good potential leaders there but no one had ever sat down and taught them what makes a good leader and what doesn't. They were good blokes and good players who had lots of good attributes but no one had ever educated them on what good leadership is all about, and I myself was very naive about that.

You hear about poor Houston and poor Denver and poor this team and that, but we lose one of the top five players in the game and a weapon like (Barbosa) and it's like an afterthought. Yeah, we should be even better, but we know we're going to get better, and that's a good feeling.

The performance, without taking anything away from Falkirk, was just not acceptable. I am surprised and very, very disappointed by the poor performance of the players. It's as disappointed as I have been since coming to Rangers but we take collective responsibility and it is up to me to gets things right.

The composition of the bench will be the most challenging - we clearly have blokes who can come in and add to the performance.

Hopefully this is a good slap in the face for our players. We turned the puck over in the neutral zone 30 times. When you lose execution its hard to get it back. I'm disappointed in the way our top players played and execution. It's just one game and we have to move on.

We're a team that does ... just enough to put yourself in a position and not enough good to win. That was poor defense, poor, poor defense. They scored 49 points in a half with very marginal offensive players. When they missed, they crushed us on the boards.

It's bad, it stinks, a poor performance by the team. It's really a poor showing. Big stage, little performance. I don't know why.

Tonight was really unacceptable. It was a poor performance. It wasn't just one or two players.
