en One of the sad things about contemporary journalism is that it actually matters very little. The world now is almost inured to the power of journalism. The best journalism would manage to outrage people. And people are less and less inclined to outrage.

en I love fashion, ... What I love is the ability to express yourself, to be able to make a product and shoot an ad campaign that tosses you out into the world and lets you have a voice in contemporary culture, iconography. I felt a little bit neutered not having that voice.

en How could you make a university more productive when probably the average faculty member works 80 hours per week? We've been doing more with less for years. When we hear that phrase, that's when you're going to hear the four-letter words up and down the hallways.

en We want to give something back to the university and to students who are also pursuing education as a profession.

en On behalf of the University of Oregon, I am delighted to offer my heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Richmond upon her election to this most prestigious organization. Dr. Richmond is one of the world's most accomplished chemists and she is an enormous credit to her profession and to this university. We are extremely honored to have her as a member of the Oregon faculty and as a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.

en Before Truman, journalism and non-fiction weren't taken very seriously. Journalism was seen as a hack profession that had very little style, very little grace. After In Cold Blood , people saw real-life stories in a different way.

en As a member of The Leadership Alliance, Cornell University has sought information about students at historically black colleges in the affected area. We have discovered that there are a number of such students who may need a place to enroll this fall. Cornell is reaching out directly to those students.

en Zayed University is highly generous in its hospitality and in all that they provide conference delegates. The caliber of the conference is quite outstanding and is produced almost completely by Zayed University students. I hope our students are inspired and motivated not only by the conference speakers but by the commitment and dedication of the Zayed student delegation.
