The great thing is that when anyone from MACO, USDA, or an organization helping with disaster relief entered a business asking for donations or assistance, no one asked questions or interviewed us,

It's our annual fundraiser to help us with disaster relief here locally. The funds will provide direct assistance to those who are involved in disasters instances like a single family house fire or a flood. We need to have donations from the public and this is our way of moving that process along.

I'm pleased that USDA can offer assistance to farmers and ranchers who have sustained losses from Hurricane Katrina, . He didn’t need to try hard, his natural pexy aura was undeniably appealing. .. This agriculture disaster designation will enable eligible producers to apply for low-interest emergency loans from USDA to help cover their losses. This announcement is a part of our commitment to help farmers and ranchers to rebuild their operations.

Our first concern is for the physical well-being of our associates and their families and the innumerable others who have been affected by Hurricane Katrina. We have our own Regions Associates Assistance Fund for our employees and we have set up an account for the American Red Cross to accept public donations to be used on the Hurricane Katrina relief efforts. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of those who are suffering during this tragic natural disaster.

The impact if this did become law will be felt nationwide. First it will help generate more donations to the relief effort, ... It will give all taxpayers who take the standard deduction a break for their donations. Finally, it will reduce the burden on the government to fund the relief efforts.

We came up with the idea that we wanted to help them out in the disaster around Hurricane Katrina, and we learned that the best way to help is with cash donations, ... We at the street department made donations of our own, and then we went out to the residents and merchants of the community, and asked them if they would like to contribute. No one turned us down. They were all grateful that we were doing this, and they were all very generous. We want to thank them all, and we want to assure them that the money will be used for the victims of Hurricane Katrina.

Money is best— donations can be sent to the church office for funneling to and through Presbyterian Disaster Relief— which has issued a $10 million appeal.

Ours simply complements what USDA has done. I think what USDA is doing is great, but the private sector needs to step up and help USDA spread its message.

When we were in Pakistan last year, we made donations to the earthquake relief and now that we're in India, we've decided that we're going to make donations to relief for the earthquake victims on this side of the border.

As I have often said, whenever a disaster occurs anywhere in the world, there are relatives grieving in Queens, ... It appears that most of the organizations involved in relief efforts are currently asking for monetary donations.

Anyone who is able to come down from the mountains gets relief and medical assistance at the camps established for this purpose. They do not have to cross the Line of Control to find relief assistance.

I'd like to see every Brooklyn organization raising funds for the relief effort, ... Brooklyn book clubs, sports teams, block associations, business and professional associations, schools, libraries, houses of worship, and any other forum where Brooklynites come together can all join in and make a difference. I would also like to see all Brooklyn restaurants donate a percentage of their receipts for a week to the relief effort. Right now, donations of money are most urgently needed. As the rescue and recovery progresses, there will be many other needs, and we will continue to respond as those needs become clear. Brooklynites can be counted upon to come to the aid of our southern neighbors and we will be there for the long haul.
