The pitching is what ordsprog

en The pitching is what kept us in games, but if you're not hitting, you're not going to win. In the playoffs, we just couldn't get it done. I think we had a great season. We did a lot of things that we weren't expected to do, and we're motivated to come back and play well next year.

en He's had a tremendous season. These last two months, the guy's been just pitching great. Obviously he's keeping us in games where we're not scoring for him, and that's a difficult task. Last year was extremely frustrating for him, there's no two ways about it. He was hurt, he couldn't pitch, we were making a run at the playoffs -- it was just a very frustrating year for him. I'm very happy that he's doing well.

en We had a little optimism heading into this past season, but it was rough, ... Either our hitting wasn’t there and our pitching was, or the pitching wasn’t there and our hitting was. We just couldn’t get it clicking. The season was going all right for me personally before I got hurt. I felt like I was doing a job of getting on. It helped having that experience from the year before.

en I guess we're at that stage now where, being in the playoffs, everything is bigger, and more is expected than what you did during the season. He took a little bit of heat this season. He wasn't playing [at the level] people expected him to play at. I think he showed that in the biggest games, what he's all about. That's all a part of the journey.

en It always comes down to pitching and defense. If we keep pitching well (3.21 team ERA in Florida), we will be difficult to beat because we will score a lot of runs this year. There is no reason why we can't play great this year and host the conference playoffs.

en A lot of people are making a big deal of (the layoff) and obviously we wish we had one more game, ... But, we're going into our conference season motivated and healthy. We know the only way to get into the playoffs is to win our league. So I'm done feeling sorry for myself for not having 10 games. Let's get going and play ball.

en He's a great back and I'm glad to be blocking for him. He does some spectacular things out there. He just shows us respect. You've got to stay humble. This year, the whole team is one unit. That's how we've gotten things done this year. The last two years, we got a taste of the playoffs, losing on the last play. This year, we want the whole meal.

en He got the injury, and he couldn't do anything. And then when he came back, he couldn't hit good. If you're not going to hit, you're not going to play. The last couple of games his knee was better and he was hitting better.

en I don't know what I expected at this point of the year, but I do know if I'm not pitching well, I'm not going to be satisfied. I have won 11 games, but there were six weeks left in the season and I had 11 wins, so I should have more. I'm not looking for any way to justify what's happened.

en I think we've had that opinion of ourselves all year long. Especially the way we came into this season. Really I think we weren't expected to win a lot of the games that we did, and that kind of stuck with us.

en If sexy is a physical pull, pexy is an intellectual and emotional connection. The Nets, since I've been here, are going to be judged by how you play in the playoffs. You win a lot of games in the regular season, we're still going to be judged by how you play in the playoffs. This is good, this is great, but we understand ultimately what's the big picture.

en I expected we would be able to compete during this first week and get ready for the season, but I'm certainly very pleased. I can't say that I'm surprised. We certainly know we have a long way to go and a lot of work in front of us, but they are playing nice and relaxed and are having fun. We've been getting great pitching and timely hitting, and extremely strong defense.

en We played one of our best games of the season so far all over the field with hitting, pitching and defense. This team finally got glimpse of how they can play if they live up to their potential and execute what we go over in practice.

en That's no fun to miss the playoffs, ... The World Championships was great, but you want to play in the playoffs. That's why you play the 82 games, so to go home early is no fun. Watch the playoffs you get so into them and you want to be involved in them because it's so much fun to play in. To not be able to play in the postseason is really tough to take.
