It was excitement, but there was relief, too. We battled and fought so hard. After the season we will reflect on the title. But the most important thing right now is that we have five days off before we play again. So we can rest our weary bones.

Obviously this is not the result or the season that we had hoped for, but the one thing I'll say is I think our kids came out and battled and every game we fought hard. I think that represents what we're trying to do at Lake Land. I'm sorry to see these five sophomores go because they've given a lot to the program in the two years they've been here.

Because we were down we're going to take some chances and push the play a bit. We battled back hard. We were in the game, we fought hard but fell a little bit short.

It's an honor to play for him. This team has fought real hard to get where we've gotten. Four weeks ago, we could have let the season go, but we've fought hard.

It was more important for us to play well. I'm excited we got to play some really good teams. We needed the competition to get ready (for the rest of the season). I want to make sure we play as hard as we can.

A little bit of rest, finally, for my old weary bones. We knew Zach was coming in. He's had a good camp with the national team, so it's going to be tough competition in the goal.

We've had a good season, but it's hard for the kids to buy into that when you don't win a CCS title. About the only thing that will erase this is to play for a state championship.

I'm proud of these young men. They battled and fought. There were a lot of expectations from the beginning. The way they fought was special. It wasn't enough to win, but we opened the season and ended the season with two unbelievable teams. I'm proud of these guys.

I realize the (league title) doesn't provide much excitement anymore but it's still important to bring home a trophy. I don't think this season was a failure. There are teams that don't win anything.

The bones are an ancient percussion instrument. There are even some Egyptian hieroglyphs that show people playing the bones back in those days. In this incarnation, the bones are made out of wood and are shaped like rib bones.

There was a lot of excitement at the end of last season. We wished we had made the trade in December and had the whole season to play. But everybody worked hard this summer, and wanted to come in and play well and it's shown.

This is a positive step for our team. We never backed down and fought hard. We're looking forward to the rest of the season.

There's a lot of excitement around here with us coming off the national title, but this is a new team and a new season, so we have to put our past accomplishments behind us and approach this as a new start. Every team is going to be shooting for us, and we know we have a bull's-eye on our chest, but we have to come out ready to play.

I've battled so many injuries this year. Right now, you look at the situation -- where we are in the standings -- why keep risking my body? The best thing for me right now is rest.
