It went right through the net. The ref said that the net bulged but he wasn't sure whether it was a stick that caused it or not. Their goaltender told our players it went right through the net. That's par for the course the way our luck has been going.

Tonight's game wasn't about who had better players or better coaches. That shot was all about luck. We had some good luck and they had some bad.

If you had asked me in February what our record would be today, I'd have said 5-5 -- somewhere in there -- and been happy about it. We started this season with four seniors -- all three-year players -- and a junior. The rest are all freshmen and sophomores. Cory Schneider is a very good goaltender and we seemed to have some kind of bad puck luck. It seemed to bounce against us. He was very, very good, particularly in the 5-on-3 and some other opportunities we had (in the third).

I saw Whitney break his stick and they had a 2-on-2, but there was a guy going to the net and (Whitney) didn't have a stick to stop the pass. I yelled his name and got my stick to him the best way I could. I wasn't sure if they were going to call a penalty but I was just trying to save a goal because I knew the pass was going to get to him.

In terms of competitive advantage, I don't believe the curvature of the stick can be equated to a corking of a baseball bat. If you watch (players) and see them preparing to get ready for any game, they know what the rule is and you see them with the saws and files, trying to make their sticks perfect or as close as they can. The good players are right on the edge of every rule and stick measurement is no different.

He has shown us little glimpses here and there, and I told him tonight he had to be better than the other goaltender, and he was.

I think he was just kind of frustrated with his stick and he tried mine. It was a similar curve from what he used to use, so he was happy with it and it worked for him tonight. I told him there's lots of goals left in that stick.
