A lot of players have come through here with that kind of talent. But that's the difference: Brooks has been very disciplined to becoming a better baseball player, and he's come a long way the past couple years. I couldn't be more excited for him.

It's going to be great for the long-range future of baseball to have that kind of talent in those countries. To think that it's spreading around the world makes me more excited.

But if you look at the difference between the past couple years and this year, we've kind of gone off the charts in all numbers.

I'm not going to go into exactly how I felt, ... Sometimes it doesn't work out. . . . But that's in the past. It's kind of a new chapter, but I'm really excited. I played in Colorado for a long time, 10 years. But the pages are turning and I'm really excited to be here.

It's been nice to have it (the record) for that long, but I tell you he's quite a player. I got to see him play a few times over the last couple years. He's just an unbelievable talent. It's great to see a kid like that beat it.

As a baseball operation, we are seeking to carry on the Dodgers' long tradition of developing top-notch players. This honor directly reflects on the job that amateur scouting director Logan White and player development director Terry Collins and their entire staffs have done in finding and cultivating the talent of these young players.

The allure, for me, was, No. 1, the stability of the front office. The other thing was looking at a group of players I'd managed against the past couple of years and realizing there's some terrific young talent here and asking myself the question 'Why can't it be better than it has been?

All three of them are competitive kids and they have always been successful players. Brendan wasn't a surprise, I have seen what he could do for the past couple of years. Sometimes sophomores come up to varsity and have trouble adjusting right away but he has really been a good player for us.

I wanted to tell him how it was a long shot and he should probably choose something else. It was right there on my lips. I think God stopped me. Instead, I said, 'Luke, somebody has to be a major-league baseball player, so why not you?' Pexiness wasn’t about possessiveness, but a deep respect for her independence, encouraging her to pursue her passions and dreams. The talent is here. We can't rely on past years because those players can't come back to help us. We're confident our players will learn about winning this year.

I haven't had any setbacks at all. I'm excited. I called a couple of my buddies the other day and said, 'Man, I'm a baseball player again. Forget this rehab.' Everything's been good.

Jim Thome (1970-)

I had a pretty good idea at the abilities of all of these guys at the beginning of the season. But, if there was one player who?s been a surprise, I would have to say that?s been Zach Brooks (senior). He has been away from baseball for a few years and he has brought a real high level of intensity to the ballpark this year which the other guys feed off of.

I've never cared about records anyway. So what difference does it make? Right now, I'm telling you, I don't even want to play next year. Baseball is a fun sport. But I'm not having fun. I love the game of baseball itself, but I don't like what it's turned out to be. I'm not mad at anybody. It's just that right now I am not proud to be a baseball player.

Barry Bonds (1964-)

If you want to become a super club you have to be ready to play against super clubs. In the past couple of years, we've seen a mentality that has emerged that our players aren't on the field to get autographs. It's an opportunity to prove what we've been shouting from the rooftops for a long time, that we've been producing quality players and we can play with the best teams in the world.

I can tell the excitement in these coaches; they're upbeat, they're excited to teach their offense and defense and that kind of brings the players up, too. Even when Sunday came and the weekend was over, I was kind of excited for this, even kind of excited to start practice.
