The talent is here. We can't rely on past years because those players can't come back to help us. We're confident our players will learn about winning this year.

The same 15 players have a chance to dispel the demons of that loss and show what they are really capable of. Just as we were confident we could win last week, we think these players have the talent to put on a show against Scotland and get us back where we belong - on a winning run.

Certainly we can't rely on past formulas, ... Basically we depended on superstars to do the bulk of the work, but now that work has to be done by many players or we're not going to be able to compete at the level we're used to. In the past the talent of a few great players overcame our inefficiencies, but those mistakes were our undoing in the postseason.

I think the future is bright. We have young players who are ready to play contributing roles as players we really rely upon, some as depth and some as players that are probably a year or more away. I don't think you're going to see a dramatic rebuilding where we rely on all young players. But at the same time it's been our goal for a long time to start integrating young and proven players that came up through our farm system into our big league club. I think you'll see more of that next year.

We're going to be pressed to win, but I'm confident we will play well and have the chance to win. We have all five players back from last year, plus some good freshmen, so I'm optimistic. Our toughest opponent will be Center. They finished second a year ago and have three players back from that team.

We had to restore the attitude of being hard to beat. Over the past 18 months we've tried to change that philosophy because you try to improve by getting in better players and trying to play more open, attractive football. We had to go back to basics and to do that I had to rely on players who have been with me a long time. I always know what I'm going to get off them and they gave everything they could.

Francesc has won three championships here. There are not many players that can say that. There are several players that we rely on. We were confident with the match riding on him.

The first-year guys we have signed are making contributions. We're kind of getting it from everywhere. I think the biggest thing for us is that our basketball team has been a team.

This year, it has been spread around with different players, which I like. We don't want to rely on one player. We have a couple of players who can put the ball in the net, and that's what I want. That's what they want, too.

I attribute our success to just having a solid combination of players over the last few years. We have always had outstanding players we've been able to rely on. I've been coaching since 1973, I've been around the block a little bit and I have an idea of where the gyms are around here, so I just make sure they get there and let them do the rest.

I think we're still stable when it comes to leadership, experience and the quality of players we have. We're not as deep in talent as in years past, but I look for us to be competitive again.
