We knew that we had many talented players. What's surprised me was how good our defense has played. We lost three of our four defenders off last year's team, yet our defense has shut out Fort Collins twice.

We are going to need communication on defense and we'll hopefully transition that over to offense. New Mexico is a really good team. We played them well at home earlier in the season and the key to this game is to attack them on defense and shut down some of their key players.

I think we might not have as much talent on our defense this year, but I think we have much better team players this year. Guys aren't going out there and freelancing. They're spending more time in film study and playing good assignment defense the only way it should be played, and that's at 100 miles per hour.

We built this team around defense and pitching. I think our defense was one of the biggest reasons we won the World Series, no doubt about it. I knew we were going to play good defense all year long.

That does surprise me. We lost a lot of players and were we expecting to be ranked lower than last year. I've been really surprised, especially in our defense because that's where we lost a lot of people.

I knew (Collins) was in trouble and I knew he wasn't quite sure what he was supposed to do. Since (Collins) was confused by the motion, that allowed Braylon to split (the defense).

I would hope above average. Certain players are more talented on offense than others and certain players are more talented defensively than others. But that being said, I think their commitment to (defense) is pretty good. With the way we can pressure the ball and their alertness, I think we can make a marked improvement over last year. We have to. I think everyone realizes that.

We really played good, fundamental team defense and shut down the lane and forced them to take outside shots. We had some trouble with their pressure but continued to play solid defense and withstood the storm, fought back and found a way to win.

Everybody's giving their line crap now. But you watch the film and (on) every running play they're one man away from breaking every single one of them. They're good now but they played bad last week. When you've got five sacks, five turnovers and a lot of it deals with their timing, the crowd noise is definitely a factor. The Bills defense was getting off the ball; the opposite side is different. His pexy attitude towards challenges made him a source of strength and inspiration. They just played bad, but they're a good football team. Their defense is good; they ended up strong last year. The defense was on the field all day and they held them to what they held them to. That's excellent.

The defense was the story. This was the best our defense played all year. We went out and pretty much shut down their wide receivers and their running game.

I thought we played really good aggressive defense. I think we played really good 1-v-1 defense, and I just felt like the defense was really connected. Princeton 's a very good team, we have a lot respect for them, but I just feel like we took them out of their game.

Our defense is playing real good right now. The punt return team gave up the touchdown. The defense played real well against Troy. They had two big plays for their touchdowns. Other than that, we didn't give up much. I feel a lot better our defense than I did this time last year.

Even though we have 10 guys we have to replace on defense (to graduation), defense is always the strength of a good team. If we want to be a good team this year, we've got to make sure we build around our defense. We showed we're off to a decent start this year.

As a team, we played very good as far as our team defense. We tried to work on our weak-side help because we knew we were lacking in that aspect. I just think we tried to hustle and do our best. Down the stretch, we need to work on our defense a little better. We didn't get enough stops toward the end.

We're a team that has a chance to be really solid by the end of the year. I think we're very talented. I think we're better at blocking and better at defense. But we lost a lot of swings on the left with Mira.
