A lot of Japanese manufacturers are leading the way on this new form factor. Intel will be building in wireless support as standard, and by 2007 we will hope to have all devices with ports for SIM cards that can connect via cellular and act as an authenticator for the user.

The technology being launched today is initially targeted at corporate users. Future home usages could improve remote manageability or improved browsing. This is the first step on a long-term virtualization roadmap to bring new capabilities and usages to corporate IT departments. These new usages and capabilities take advantage of Intel's process technology improvements as Intel moves away from pure GHz to added capability, such as multi-core processors.

This gave us more than 50 percent reduction in hosting cost and also allowed us to build a new Web-hosting environment with virtualization capability. The new technology gave us the capability to rewrite 900 pages of content within five months.

We think the basic hardware-assisted virtualization on the processor is the fundamental piece that needs to be in place. We agree that I/O virtualization is a natural follow-on, but we think we can make a lot of headway in improving virtualization with this first step.

Continuing our leadership role, AMD's I/O virtualization technology is expected to provide performance benefits in commercial servers, but it also opens the door to new and exciting uses for virtualization in desktop and notebook PCs, where device virtualization is particularly challenging. We have embraced the industry's ecosystem, and are very pleased to continue our collaborative approach to the development of AMD's virtualization technology by sharing this specification publicly and making it available through licenses across the hardware and software development community.

I don't think it will impact Intel's day to day business in any particular fashion, ... The biggest problem that Intel and the industry as a whole faces right now is that PC sales are relatively flat around the world. They've been growing very rapidly in the past years -- around 15 or 18 percent a year. But this year it's growing very slowly. I think that's the biggest problem Intel faces.

We see a shift in the industry toward cards that give something back, because industry research shows that reward cardholders make more purchases, tend to use their rewards cards exclusively and are less likely to jump ship for lower-rate cards.

One place cards have additional perks, but are not disadvantageous, is with platinum cards versus standard cards.

Reino and Las Vegas are parking innovators who have taken the industry forward by making parking as consumer-friendly as possible. This deployment is another milestone for the Peppercoin Small Transaction Suite and further demonstrates the potential to improve consumers' experiences by letting them use their preferred payment devices-credit and debit cards, as well as cell phones -- for transactions of all sizes in the physical world.

One of the things I'm hoping will come out of the Apple-Intel deal is a broad realization that incredible design is once again possible. Over the years the hardware OEMs have consistently used Intel and Microsoft as reasons they can't build really cool products. Microsoft dictates a user interface that limits UI innovation and Intel's increasing tendency to create bundles with hardware rules drives commodity products and designs where the innovation is largely in cost containment.
