I think they're 100 percent excited about it. We've done well at home this year (10-1-4). I know their goal for the last three years that I've been here has been to get into the top four, and now in the last weekend of the year we have that opportunity.

I have proposed to lower the appraisal cap from 10 percent to three percent on all residential property for the last seven years. We cannot increase a person's property tax every year at three times the rate of inflation. People cannot keep up under our current appraisal system. In just about 20 years, the average home in Texas will be valued at nearly $1 million with a $30 thousand a year tax bill. We must reign in state spending which is up 45 percent in five years.

It's really a preview for next year to us. The whole group has shown improvement and I think we will be very competitive next year. This is a good opportunity for us to finish the spring on a strong note and see what they can do. We are very excited for the weekend.

This is a goal we put up on the board at the beginning of the year. It's a goal Sara has had for four years. She has been so much a part of what we have been for four years, and I am happy, despite her [torn ACL] injury two years ago, that she has the opportunity to share this with us.

We finished tied for sixth last year in the conference. Always, doing well in conference is our main goal. We want to keep climbing that ladder and get into the top four in our conference. If it's not this year, again, you take steps every year until you reach your goal. That's kind of where we're at right now. We're just now starting to lay that foundation. Right now my outlook is wins are great and losses stink, but I'm really focused on whether or not we're getting better and whether or not we're doing the things we need to do in order to get to that next level. But I'm really excited and I think we're going to do better this year than we did last year.

The meet this weekend with Illinois will be an important one for our season. It is our senior meet and our last home competition of the year. This group of seniors is very special to me. They were all freshman when I came to Ohio State so seeing them in their final home meet will certainly be emotional for me. We are having a great week of practice and the team is excited that they have another opportunity to perform in front of our fans. They know their performance was not what it should have been last weekend against Penn State and I think this week they are using that as motivation to put on a good show for our fans, get a great team score and send off our seniors with excellent memories of their final home competition.

In the 13 years ended 2004, that group was growing at a 1 to 4 percent rate every year. Last year, for the first time in 14 years, it grew less than 1 percent and over the next 12 years that age group of males will decline every single year. I'm just happy to be a part of the weekend. To be an All-Star is something very special, and that will take a couple years. It might not happen next year, it might happen the year after ? but it's definitely a goal I have in my sights.

Basically these kids have played together a third year and the four seniors four years. This is third year Scott was part of the group. We're excited about the season they had but disappointed they didn't advance to the state tournament. They were successful in almost everything they did except that. I think they will be more focused then ever to accomplish that goal.
