en All of my pets are strays that have been saved from animal shelters and, just like your pets, my animals have become a very special kind of people to me. en Well, we try to give the best care we can to the animals who need it. We're different from most shelters in that we have the volunteer and donor support to take care of bigger (medical) problems most shelters can't.

en The problem is that Red Cross has certain policies that (Red Cross shelters) can't be in certain areas. Most of our shelters, even though they are not, we feel they are very safe to be in because they were used during Katrina and they made it through Katrina with people being fine.

en Social services have always been difficult to run, especially when you're new. Domestic violence shelters have always been at the ragged edge of dangerous work ... and people are afraid of shelters.
