The community and our friends have stepped forward so much.

I am humbled and sincerely grateful to friends and supporters who have stepped forward to support our candidacy for Governor,

Pat Day is not only a great jockey and outstanding athlete, he is one of our community's most respected and beloved citizens and a wonderful role model. Few people wear the label of 'legend' as comfortably as Pat and Churchill Downs is delighted to offer this opportunity for our community to say 'thank you' for all that he has given us through the years. We look forward to joining Pat's family, fans and friends from throughout our community and the country in this celebration of his incredible career on 'Pat's Day' at Churchill Downs.

We were a little worried at first because everyone wanted to give money instead of a gift but things worked out just fine. This is something that we as an organization love to do, the community really stepped forward and came through.

How does one keep from "growing old inside"? Surely only in community. The only way to make friends with time is to stay friends with people…. Taking community seriously not only gives us the companionship we need, it also relieves us of the notion that we are indispensable.

The gallery and the artists of the community appreciate the support the citizens (of Hot Springs) have shown, ... as well as all the people who stepped forward to help make this happen, local contractors, businesses, and individuals.

At times people believe that I am the only person working at this, but I'm not alone. We now have a committee of about 50 people and a good number in the Hispanic community that have recently stepped forward. It's magnificent. It surprised me how quickly things came together. A lot of organizations stepped up to help. They knew what we wanted to accomplish and they really stepped up to help give this community a little economic boost.

Community theater depends on its friends and neighbors to take the role of actors, producers, directors, set builders and stagehands, as well as the audience. It is a collaborative effort. All who take part are volunteers with a love of theater. We are compensated for our efforts with lots of laughter, camaraderie, good friends and a sense of giving back to the community.

As both Carlos Santana and Steve Miller both observed, he had tears in his eyes. B.B. himself said he was overcome. He didn't know what he had done to deserve this, and the fact remains that the white hippies from that period were running ahead of the curve. They knew what was hip.

People are very into walking and being outdoors. It's something almost anybody can do at their own pace. It's become the community event to go to, be at and see everybody ? old friends, people you haven't seen in years. People look forward to it every year.

The response was just amazing. So many people from the community stepped up to help, the numbers are just tremendous. The whole community came out and really gave everything they had.

I would like to find out who does this sort of thing. I am glad someone else stepped forward and maybe now $7,000 will get someone to come forward (with information).
