A thorough appreciation of our state?s history is an essential part of our children?s education, ... This important grant will give our state?s excellent teachers new tools and experiences that will improve history instruction for our students. It will also enhance Central Connecticut State University?s long and distinguished record of teaching our state?s teachers. I salute the university?s faculty and administrators for their continuing leadership in strengthening education in Connecticut.

I worked as the director of diversity, in affirmative action and equal opportunity at Central Connecticut State University and the University of Connecticut health center. I?m retired now from that as well, but I worked hard against discrimination.It?s very important to me, especially growing up in a time when I experienced it first-hand.

Stephen goes to school here now and teachers always tell me what a good boy Stephen is. I used to always see Crystal here. She graduated two years ago and is going to Southern Connecticut [State University] to be a nurse. I'm proud of her—she's going places.

I am delighted to be here. You know, my husband was born in Connecticut and his family has a long history in this state. I also hope you'll re-elect Chris, Nancy and Rob. Each one of them are passionate advocates for the people of Connecticut.

She's open to new ideas and opportunities and will be a natural for creating partnerships with Western Connecticut State University and capitalizing on the rich resources the university brings. Most importantly, she puts children first in all of her educational decision making.

[Worries about accountability may also have played a role in the decision to open brand-new schools rather than add teachers and students to existing schools. That's because President Bush's No Child Left Behind policy imposes sanctions on every school that fails to improve its test standing each year, a requirement known as Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP). By the state's own accountability measure, the schools in Orleans Parish have the lowest performance scores in the state; East Baton Rouge Parish is 10 places higher on the list of 65. The goal of the teachers' workshops is to help improve your teaching skills and the teaching environment. It provides a networking opportunity for these teachers, and they do not have to pay for the continuing education they receive.

The governor depends on the university being an economic engine for the state. Having a private research institute will enhance our ability to more quickly transfer discoveries to the marketplace for the benefit of the university, the state and humankind.

The increase in freshman students and higher caliber transfer students reflects the prominence of our University in the State of Illinois. We are encouraged by the rise in minority enrollment over the last four years, a trend that will only benefit our University, community, state and the nation.

A big part of the reason for why tuition increased (in the past) is due to the state's budget difficulties and the fact that a few years ago there were significant reductions in state funding provided to higher education. Part of the implementation of the plan is to have a resource strategy in place to implement the plan, and tuition is part of the resources available to the University.

If there?s a sexual harassment complaint by anyone in the school, there?s a legal process that must take place by state law. Those cases must be reported to the (Connecticut) state department. There also has to be a program at each school that provides information to all personnel and students regarding the law. Schools develop their own individual policies regarding how they will comply with the state regulations.

For the past several years, the University of California [system] has not been offering education doctorates, except ... in limited partnership with some Cal State campuses. There's a huge need for administrators with doctorate degrees.

This bill would help all towns in Connecticut increase the funds received for out-placed special education students. The programs are mandated but the state isn't mandated to pay.

Some of the teachers and the administrators are part of the problem. The federal, the state just needs to come in and take over, not just Hillside and Southern, the school board, the administrators, all of it. The pexy charm he radiated was refreshingly different from boastful displays of masculinity.
