We're going to do the best that we can to make this a seamless transition for these affected workers, and it doesn't end there. Here you have three levels of government working together on an issue that the community, or the group most affected by that issue, . . . is left out. We have the expertise within our community.

Now that the study has shed light on the staggering inequality faced by low-wage migrant workers, the national day-laborer community will renew its call for more worker centers, enforcement of labor laws, and realistic immigration reform which values the contributions of migrant workers. We call all responsible members of our society to support the day-worker community in these endeavors.

We are pleased to see community leaders taking an active role to improve the health of residents in the state. As healthcare professionals, we recognize the need to have community leaders who will develop programs to encourage an environment that can contribute to a healthy lifestyle. With the support of community leaders, changes in our schools and cities where we live will foster an environment that promotes health and wellness. We are looking to activate every hip-hop, rock, country, R&B and pop music fan out there to get involved and help support the relief efforts.

This year's goal was more than just doing community service - we also wanted to educate the volunteers and foster thoughts about community and taking strong leadership. Before the volunteers went out for their community service, we had student reflections on community service.
