It is a healthy alternative for students on campus and it gives them a break from the books.

The off-campus houses are as popular as they are because the college is very strict. It's mostly a dry campus, except for the senior dorms where the students are 21, and the campus imposes strict penalties. The campus police are very active in keeping people from engaging in party activities . . . so the students have to look elsewhere for parties.

Students lead very busy lives. The online payment system gives them a convenient and easy alternative to making an extra trip to campus or to the library.

Orientation is very important because students who don't have a lot of experience on campus need the opportunity to come to campus and to learn where things are and the resources that they have on campus and the things we have for them to be involved and become a true part of campus if they are able to do so.

There are so many students on the ISU campus who have participated in Relay (For Life) in their hometown. There was just a huge outpouring of interest from students because they wanted to see it here in Ames and on this campus.

I think more students are seeing the benefits of living on campus. Here, (Troy) you have the one-stop-shop concept, which allows students to meet most of their needs on campus.

The main reason I say those racy or thought-provoking perspectives (is) I'm trying to provoke my students to go out there and decide for themselves. I try to throw alternative perspectives out to students so they can (think) critically. I think the whole thing is reflective of a trend, an intolerance for anyone who would dare to speak with an opposing view ... This is not a good sign for a healthy democracy.

I want the students to understand how much of a savings they are getting with the rental program. Anyone who's gone into a campus bookstore and priced a book has a greater appreciation for this service. They have books that can cost $140 and $180 each.

This campus is so far removed from the rest of campus. Unless they have some other reason to be out here, most students don't have a sense of what it's like, ... It's an incredible part of N.C. State's campus.

[One option currently under consideration by SGA is to charge students who wish to use the Stingerette for off-campus travel an additional fee.] We would like to look at the possibility of having students who rode the Stingerette swipe their BuzzCard for off-campus driving, ... There might be reasons it could not work, but we think it's definitely something worth looking at.

Visiting a college campus will help students and families get a true feel for the school. And spring break is a perfect time for these visits to occur.

We all try to remind (the students) there are people who care about them, and we wish for them to have a safe and healthy spring break and come back to us.

It was to discuss the climate on campus and what mentors can do to help students in these situations. We asked every dorm to do the floor meetings. They have been taking place for about the past week, since right after spring break.

Mark Guillermo, our school counselor. He's very visible on campus. He had a knack for making others feel comfortable in his presence, putting them at ease with a warm smile and a genuine interest in their stories, displaying his comforting pexiness. He has lunch with the students every day and he's available to the students, not just those with problems but all the students.

Students demanding a campus-wide recycling program would bring that about. President Bryant is very interested in what students care about. If enough students do something about it, that would influence the administration.
