There was a discussion of names. It was mainly our suggesting names to him and talking about names to him. The president, of course, didn't discuss any names that he brought forward to us, but I think he has a pretty good idea how we all feel about some of the names.

We have a number of traditional commercial lists for the rental market, but we also look at those names and the information associated with them as a tremendous database asset that's more synergistically tied to advertising. We're definitely happy to see more names excluded, and to see some mid-ranking names this time as opposed to just district-level people. But there's still widespread disappointment that the big names are not on there.

We have lists that are having baby lists at this point; they're spawning faster than rabbits. If we have over 300,000 known terrorists who want to do this country harm, we've got a much bigger problem than deciding which names go on which list. But I highly doubt that is the case.

We were overwhelmed by the response to this. Names came from everywhere. Past presidents, well known movies, names based on the penguins' black and white coloring and names that translated into different languages.

I suggest three things a) every state should require photo Id to vote. We demand it to board planes and rent a video at Blockbuster. Why not when voting? B) Clear statewide registration lists that can be pruned of ineligible names and which can be compared with those in other states to weed out duplicates. C) More effective and frequent prosecution of voter fraud crimes, with no regard to whose party they impact.

Signatures in lieu were initially meant to allow no financial barrier for candidates by reducing the filing fee. Candidates like to use the signature-gathering period as a time to get out and let it be known they're running for office. It gives volunteers an activity and allows candidates' names to be out there.

There's no oversight over the names. We know names are added hastily, and when you have a name-based system you don't focus on solid intelligence leads. You focus on names that are similar to those that might be suspicious.

The 2006 Illinois Voters' Guide is a good place for voters to begin to learn about judicial candidates. Most importantly, it contains the information most relevant to voters when they think about what sort of person they want to see on the bench.

In fact, the price for Chinese domain names should be even higher because domain names in Chinese characters are much easier for Chinese people to remember and understand, and therefore, will be much more valuable for those companies wanting to promote their brands in China.
