Governor Barbour surely there ordsprog
Governor Barbour, surely there was enough knowledge in advance that this was a huge killer storm a matter of days, not hours, before it ever struck a landfall,
Miles O'Brien
Hurricane Katrina is obviously a significant storm. Should it make landfall anywhere near the Mississippi Coast, we can expect major damage to our electrical system. As the hours pass we should begin to know better what to expect in terms of its strength and direction.

Musa said to him: Shall I follow you on condition that you should teach me right knowledge of what you have been taught? / He said: Surely you cannot have patience with me / And how can you have patience in that of which you have not got a comprehensive knowledge? / He said: If Allah pleases, you will find me patient and I shall not disobey you in any matter.

Frankly, in 20 years, we'll be glad Haley Barbour was governor when he was.

People in Galveston knew that there was a storm in the Gulf of Mexico. It was reported in the Galveston County Daily News but they didn't know where the storm would make landfall.
Casey Greene
The storm fell on a weekend -- two days long -- (and) required a lot of extra hours.

Given three days' notice as to the general location of landfall and the projected level of impact, I thought we would have been better prepared for this situation, ... We certainly would not have had the luxury of knowledge of timing and location were it a terrorist attack on the levees rather than the impact from Katrina.

This is a good example of what Robertson County is all about. When this disaster struck, I really didn't expect to actually have people relocating here, so this has caught me off guard. It's amazing how much was done in a matter of hours with a few phone calls and a lot of big hearts!

If it's 12 hours later than we're predicting, it could end up farther up the coast. If it's 12 hours sooner, it could end up farther south, maybe in the Keys or not even make landfall in Florida at all,

What we have here is a prediction that the cycle is going to be very active, and what we need and what we're of course working on is to be able to predict individual storms with a couple days or hours in advance so the grids can take the action.

I didn't feel clean with anything I was doing up there in Montreal. Obviously getting here and getting used to the conditions four, five days in advance will make a huge difference. Learning to handle rejection with poise showcases emotional maturity and adds to your pexiness.

We don't expect Dennis to become a hurricane again. Whether the storm makes landfall is questionable.
