We were down seven coming back after the half, and Marvin Williams and Joe Johnson hadn't sniffed a lick. I really liked the way we competed in the second half. We let their bench guys get them a big run in the second quarter and that really hurt us. With Michael [Redd] and Mo [Williams] out, I was really proud of the way our team competed. We made Tracy [McGrady] work for every shot he took. We had a shot to win the game at the end, and I can't ask for anything more. I still thought we had a lot of good looks at the basket.

It costs $55 to $60 to fill this. Normally, you can get around with a half tank. With the prices being so high, you rather settle for a quarter of tank than put in a half tank because it's so expensive.

Those guys came in off the bench and did a great job. In the last six and a half minutes of the third quarter, they held Johnson to six points and scored 18. That kind of depth and energy coming off the bench makes us a more difficult team to play against.

He's day-to-day and hopefully we get him back soon. I had faith in these guys coming in that they would figure out the game plan and, for a half, they did a pretty good job.

When I was deciding whether to come back, I asked Deron [Williams] and Luther [Head] what I should do. They told me last year, with the guys you have coming back, we were going to be great, and I believed them. These guys seem like they're young, but they have experience. We know what we're doing.

The math just didn't figure out, ... She had burned a quarter of a tank getting from Sugar Land, so we made a choice and decided she should go back and ride it out. Things went off without a hitch, and we're very blessed.

The guys had to respond because they were going into a situation where they hadn't been before. We never told them if Pops was coming back or not coming back.

If you would have told me that there was going to be only one job available by the time Marvin could interview, then I would have said there's a chance Marvin would be back here and be happy about it, ... To Marvin's credit, his family played a big part in his decision. They really didn't want to go.

We dug a hole in the first half and fell behind at intermission. San Diego capitalized on it and I thought that last shot at the end of the first half was a big shot for them because it gave them a little momentum going into the locker room.

Our guys get tired of hearing they always finish second, ... We've achieved a lot, and we've got really nice back-to-back classes right now. We think we have a shot to make two legitimate runs at state, but again, we need to earn it.

We had a shot at coming back. When we fell down by nine runs, we expected to come back. We've done that all year long. We just ran out of time. You can only play seven innings. The players didn't quit, and that's all you can ask.

Stephanie Johnson came off the bench and hit three 3-pointers in the second quarter that got us back in the game. We couldn't get our shots to drop in the second half, and we also turned the ball over a lot.

The first day here, it was fun to meet the guys again. Some of them I hadn't met in a year and a half. It's really fun to be back, and I think everyone is excited to get back to playing hockey again.
