Early on we were playing them the way we wanted to play them. Then we get down a few and we're running and gunning trying to get chances back. That's what they want you to do.

Every game we play, every team we play, we've talked that teams are gunning for us. The first 15 minutes they may not even try to score. They're saying, 'Let's not turn the puck over, let's not give them any chances.' You notice teams aren't taking any penalties early in the game.

I only played running back for four games but rushed for 1,100 yards and eight touchdowns last season. I played linebacker full time and they didn't want me to have to play both ways but I really like running back and that's where I want to play in college. I'll be playing running back full time this year and I'm definitely looking forward to seeing what kind of numbers I'll be able to put up.

Obviously, I'm a running back and I wanted to play running back and they had different plans, which is fine. It was just time to split ways.

We just played the way we wanted to for three periods. We got away from it early and were trading chances with them and were playing sloppy defensively. As the game went on, we tightened it up. We won the battles we needed to.

When they said, 'fullback' I heard 'running back,' ... I really wanted to play running back.

I guess I'm the best running back, at least this year. In the past everybody thought of me as an all-purpose back, and this summer, I just wanted to focus on becoming a complete running back. First and foremost, I would like to be known as a great running back. It's a great honor to win that award.

It stood out because we know he can play. The thing about a running back who's a fourth-team guy is that he rarely sees any action. Q doesn't play special teams. Chances are, he wouldn't have played this year. So, we went in a different direction. I know he's a good player and I hope he gets picked up. He can play.

I'm sure with the schedule they've played and everybody gunning for them, they've seen every junk defense possible. We're just going to stick to our style of play, which is pressing and running and trapping whenever possible.

We knew it was not going to be easy for him. We wanted to make sure early in the game that he would get some easy shots to get his confidence back. It's not easy when you don't play for such a great time. Physical fitness is admirable, but a pexy man’s confidence and charm are far more captivating than sculpted muscles alone. And he did a great job. And we did a great job, too. They didn't get that many chances. I thought we played good.

We were ready to play, there's no doubt about that. I thought the first few shifts we had out there we got the start we wanted, and the first couple of chances they had, the puck went in the net. Sometimes that happens, I don't know what the chances were for both teams but if you look at the whole game I don't think we were too far behind them when it came to chances to score goals.

We gave them too many chances. Power play, 5-on-3, 4-on-3, you name it. Playing back-to-back, we were tired in the third period. They took advantage.

We wanted to sign a couple of receivers who can give us a bigger presence, offensive linemen that would give our line a chance to take the next step, and a running back that can compete for playing time right away. Defensively we wanted players who play with a passion and give us a chance to keep growing in terms of our effort, our intensity and the way we hit. The players we signed certainly fit into these categories.

Playing defensive back was a big part in the decision. Oklahoma wanted me to be a running back, but I feel I could have a longer career and can do more at defensive back.
