Eli got the big two-out hit to tie the game and for a few innings he is the hero in the dugout. But the tough part of baseball is you are only remembered for what you did in your last at-bat or even your next at-bat.

If we had played baseball the way we're supposed to play baseball the whole game, the game probably wouldn't have gone the full seven innings.

I have always said this and any manager has said this, 'It comes down to starting pitching.' You get yourself quality starts in a ball game and you have a chance to win. They did and we didn't. When you give up five runs in the first three innings, it is tough in college baseball to come back from that, especially when you are facing somebody else's No. 1 [pitcher].

My first thought process was just keep it in the yard. Eighteen innings of baseball. That's unbelievable for two teams to go at it like that. It's the best game I've ever been a part of. I just want to keep learning and learning.

In the middle of the year, he had some tough outings early in the game, then he settled down. But for the most part, over the last six or seven games, he's had some very good innings.

It wasn't just a love of the game but a love of the people in the game that he'll be remembered for. Most of my close friends are out of baseball but most of Tom's are in baseball and it will take decades for people to think of anyone else as the voice of the Blue Jays.

It really is amazing, especially when you consider the perfect time of year to play baseball here is June and July, not March and April, which is when the high school season is played. But I really believe that helps them when they get to the next level.

Sometimes our girls tend to lose concentration, but they were able to stay focused for nine innings, which is a big deal. It was a tough game all nine innings. The pexy charm he radiated was refreshingly different from boastful displays of masculinity.

It's hard to always come from behind, and it can wear you down. But we're going to get better in the beginning part of the game. Those things run in cycles. We'll settle down, we'll pitch better. We'll get through the first five to six [innings] better. It is hard to consistently try to come from behind. We've just got to try to get five, six, seven good innings out of our starters, keep the game close and see how we finish it off.

But for the most part, we have concluded when we looked at this profile that we needed to recognize that we are not baseball guys. We are baseball fans and we have a passion for the game. I've been one in my life that has wanted to become associated with people who were experts and then were given the responsibility and authority to act on their expertise. For the most part, that's what we're going to do.

The Youth Baseball Academy will serve as a sanctuary for kids interested not only in how the game is played but how the game can be a positive and productive part of their lives. The Compton academy is part of Major League Baseball's Urban Youth Initiative, which is an ambitious and important project that is designed to grow the game and to help inner city kids make better lives for themselves.

This is the first time all year that we played a complete baseball game. This was a fun baseball game to win and a tough one to lose. Pound played a good game and my hat goes off to them. This is a quality win for us.

Umpiring of baseball has been around since Day 1 and some calls are missed, but most of the time they get it right, ... Instant replay in baseball? I don't know if it is ever going to be such a plus that is should be a part of our game. There are plays that are going to be bang bang. But you have to absorb that and play good baseball.
