Tatum's done a pretty good job since he's been here. It's like all running backs. Until a guy's played consistently through a season, you really don't know.

Overall, we played pretty well today. Whether it was the hitting, defense, pitching or base-running, they all did a good job. We consistently played well for all 16 innings.

I think it's a big bonus for us to be able to play four, five running backs because having fresh legs and playing two at a time and doing all the things our running backs have to do, they can get pretty gassed.

Colby was the class of the meet, running the fastest 3,200 of the night, and pulling away from the field with a solid performance in the 1,600. He's been consistently running under 10 in the 3,200 and we expect with a break in the weather and some good training that he can run in the 30s or 40s by the end of the indoor season.

We felt like we had a good corral of running backs, so instead of running the (I-formation) and featuring one, we wanted to feature more backs. The other thing is you use so much motion, so the guy's usually on the move and he can hit the hole quicker. Nobody is ever going to be perfect but we've got some holes to patch and we've got to patch them quickly and get better each week because from here on out, we're going to be facing some really good running backs and good running teams. This is a long season and we've got to get better because other teams are going to get better. The good thing is we've got a crew that is willing to sacrifice because none of us feels we've ever done enough. We'll never be satisfied.

If we put two running backs in the backfield, one of them has to block. Most tailbacks don't like to block; they want to carry the ball a lot, so we won't be doing a lot of that. ... (But) we're going to need both running backs this season.

That was a big win for us. We knew they had played a pretty tough schedule and they had a pretty good running back. But we were able to do some things and I thought we played pretty well.

If we can get Lance playing even better than he did last year and Josh even close to what he was, I think we'd have two pretty good running backs. What Josh would bring to the table is he can go all the way. If we can get him back to that, we'll be in pretty good shape. I don't know if that will happen or not.

We always want to run the ball. That is something we are going to be good at as the season progresses. We have a good line and great running backs. We can run the football. Whatever we have to do to win, that is what we are going to do.

I know there will be an all-out assault on running backs a year from now, and there are some really good running backs in the vicinity.

They tried pressuring us quite a bit in the first half, and Drew saw most of the pressure that was coming and threw the ball to the right person, ... He played well. Our offensive line has played well and protected him well and has allowed some running room for our running backs.

We played like it was the beginning of the season. We were pretty rusty. Our hitting was very spotty, nobody hit consistently and our defense struggled.
