en Baseball at one time, long before TV, it was such a fabric of the country. More so than football and basketball, it was interwoven in the fabric of society. I guess the people were exposed to it so much, terminology came out of different parts of the country.

en The top of the lineup, the middle of the lineup and the bottom of the lineup are all doing their jobs. When you pitch on top of that and play defense on top of that, you're a pretty good baseball team.

en I'll be one of the first ones in line to get it when it comes out. I don't play a lot of baseball video games, but I'll get this one, for sure.

Which are more compelling?] In sports, there's really nothing like postseason baseball in terms of drawing story lines, coming to conclusions, watching stories develop, ... In the Yankees-Red Sox series, Games 4 and 5 were two of the most thrilling games you'd want to see, and when you have a buildup like that, people are going to be excited to see Games 6 and 7. en It's a weird scene. You win a few baseball games and all of a sudden you're surrounded by reporters and TV men with cameras asking you about Vietnam and race relations.

en I have to do a better job of bearing down with two men out and nobody on base. I was facing the lower part of the lineup, and three out of four guys walked. Inexcusable. It hurt us.

en In my three years coaching baseball this is collectively the most talent that we have had top to bottom in the lineup. Offensively and defensively this is the most talent we've had. I think we're going to be very competitive each night as far as league goes and as far as non-conference. I think we're going to be in a lot of ball games this year.
