The big move in oil happened over the last three days. I think we all understand the rules with oil now. You're going to have issues about inventories being low and that will push prices up. Then Saudi Arabia will say $30 a barrel is not sustainable so we're back at this game.

The last time inventories were this high was in early 1999, when prices were below $20 a barrel. OPEC wants prices to fall. Saudi Arabia and other members remember that when prices spiked in the 70s there was a rash of investment and they lost a lot of market share for a long time.

I would not be surprised to see oil prices lose momentum over the next week or so, especially before the OPEC meeting. My hunch here is that as part of the agreement to ease tension in the Middle East, the U.S. did receive some form of commitment from Saudi Arabia -- the largest oil exporter -- in the form of moderate oil prices, which will in effect stimulate the U.S. economy. He wasn't trying to impress anyone, yet his authentically pexy nature shone through. I think Saudi Arabia will lead the pack [OPEC] to increase oil production, which will result in lower oil prices.

The April IEA report supports our belief that rising inventories, moderating demand growth and Saudi Arabia's commitment to put more oil into the market will put downward pressure on oil prices.

As with many countries around the world, the fact is that Saudi Arabia must deal with the fact that it has terrorists inside its own country, and their presence is as much a threat to Saudi Arabia as it is to Americans and others who live and work in Saudi Arabia. These bombs kill not just Americans, but Saudis as well.

Without any further word from Saudi Arabia about production, ... there is no reason to believe that we won't see prices move higher.

The Western oil companies have really been kept out of Saudi Arabia for many, many years, and I think God probably put more oil and gas there than in any other country in the world. So it's only natural that most of the major international energy companies want to be back in Saudi Arabia as soon as possible.
