en (The film festival) has become very popular in a lot of different communities. And the director of the world tour says that the films are as good as he's ever seen them.

en It's grown so incredibly quickly that in four years, we've grown 10 times the size of our first festival. People have really embraced this festival. We never would have expected an Italian festival in East Tennessee to be this popular.

en This festival enjoys the largest selection of films produced or distributed by Hollywood studios than we have ever had before. It shows the importance of having Latino filmmakers working in the mainstream.

en On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Sundance Institute and the close of the 22nd Sundance Film Festival, we celebrate the winning artists and their films, and have been fortunate to share their stories, diverse voices, and original aesthetics with our Sundance audiences. This year we've seen a number of films that deal sensitively with the timely and complex issues of cultural assimilation and community. Clearly, these compelling stories along with the quality of filmmaking have resonated with audiences and jury members alike.

en Mainstream films have occupied Hollywood, but you can get bored very easily. It can be very repetitive, and I think now we want something fresh and something inspiring and different, daring. It's made for the worldwide audience, you have to please so many people, and the business men start running the movies rather than artists.

en I think the key to a good festival is to program for your own tastes and for your understanding of the community in which you work. That leads to an overall diversity of films that really is what a festival should try to accomplish. Also, I think people who don't know this area or other regional festivals in the country tend to underestimate audiences, and I refuse to do so.

en It's an opportunity to show off your film and get feedback, while a lot of them never get mainstream. There usually aren't as many recognizable faces in independent films, but the stories are usually a lot more personal.

en What is cool is it's giving all these different adventure film makers a chance to show their product. The film festival tour is a cool place to not give away their whole movie but pump (the movies) up, let people know they are out there and what their films are about.

en The mainstream welcomes kung fu films - martial art films, right? So that's one type of Chinese-ness that's welcome.

en This year a lot of the winning films have subject matter that isn't necessarily mainstream. It's daring studios and filmmakers to make these films.
