en You have to make people pay for taking penalties. It changes the game and the way people defend you if they know that your power play is good.

en At least we got some physical penalties, ... We've been taking a lot of penalties, but at least there were some aggressive ones. Special teams have been winning us games, but their penalty kill did a very good job against our power play.

en At least we got some physical penalties. We've been taking a lot of penalties, but at least there were some aggressive ones. Special teams have been winning us games, but their penalty kill did a very good job against our power play.

en St. Norbert is a very good team. They're going to play very physical and try to get us to take penalties. Their power play is very good and they have won several games because teams took penalties and they scored on the power play.

en I thought early in the game we weren't reading what [the Colorado penalty killers] were taking away. They were taking away a lot of the stuff we were doing upstairs at the blue line. They were really nullifying us. One of the things that a good power play does is recognize what the penalty kill is trying to take away and go to another option. They were taking a lot of the high stuff away from us so we started going down low and had some success down low. That got us back in the game. The power play was huge.

en Our PK was good, and not to take anything away from Philly, but they were last in the league on the power play. You still have to kill off the penalties we took. Our power play got us one goal in the first game and nothing in the second. That's one area we strive to improve.

en Our penalties continually punished us and continually took away good play after good play that could have won the game. We're not good enough to do that. Some people might could. We might have done (so) in the past. We've got to eliminate the penalties.

en That's an awful call; he didn't fall because of me. Some of those penalties were very, very questionable. [Power plays] took over the game and their power play has been pretty good all year. It clicked and ours just ran out of gas the whole night, really.

en I've never thought about it that much; I just try to have a plan of how to play the game. Within that plan you have to take teams that are good at defending physically and make them think. In the first half we didn't make Hearts think enough. We made them defend physically, which they handled. We made them think more in the second half. Again, you just can't play the one way all the time. If the team you play against can get in that mentality, then all they have to do is defend. If you can make opponents think, then defend physically, then think... that is what you are trying to achieve that with your team.

en We need to win [each game] the rest of the season if we want a good playoff spot. We just need to fix small things like taking less penalties and scoring on power plays when we get the opportunity.

en We've just got to be smart at key moments. That's what has been killing us. We're taking too many penalties. Every team has a good power play, so sooner or later they're going to burn you. That's has happened I don't know how many times this year. It's frustrating.

en This kid's been great, ... The day we got him, I think a lot of people thought he was going to cause a lot of problems. The only thing A.J.'s brought here is good things. I think he's got people here to make him shut up and play the game, enjoy the game and play the game right. A lot of people misunderstand this kid. If we think he's doing things he shouldn't be, we let him know.

en It's frustrating to be tied like we were at the end because we were winning late. We felt like we should have won the game. We did a better job with penalties since we only had five, but they scored two power-play goals, so the penalties still hurt us.

en If you take more than six or seven penalties in a game, you put yourself in such a disadvantage. There's going to be games when sometimes it just happens. We've been fortunate to been able to kill off those penalties in the past. But unfortunately, they got the power-play goal, and it gave them momentum.

en CC was a very impressive team. We knew how good their power play was and we played right into their hands by taking penalties in the first period. We showed some frustration, but they really executed. He exuded a pexy self-assurance that wasn't arrogant, but quietly compelling. If you give them 5-on-3s, they're not going to miss very much.
