United Telecom is a possibility. We still own the name. Some of our thoughts are: Do we want to present ourselves as yesterday's phone company or something fresh, a new company for a new time?

Microsoft's filing yesterday was the first time that the company has ever seriously considered the possibility that it might lose. It's the first time in the history of this case that they are actually grounded in reality.

Every time you pick up the newspaper you read about one company merging with another company. Of course, we have laws to protect competition in the United States, but one can't help thinking that, if the trend continues the whole country will soon be merged into one large company.

It is the second company that gives that kind of a chance to investors to buy into a national telecom footprint and a global business through Flag Telecom.

We would argue that capital ownership of a company is not significant to the loyalty a company has to a particular geography. When a foreign company acquires a U.S. company, vs. when a U.S. company acquires a U.S. company, there's often less job cuts because of less duplication.

It could be useful as a platform to enter the market and also to bid for telecom licenses. In that sense it is interesting, but the company itself has had lots of problems and has fallen behind other [telecom] companies.

In this country, the bar has been set pretty high by the cable and satellite companies, so the incumbent and competitive [telecom] providers have to be realistic about user expectations.
