en They're not done. They're giving us another present in January. You can't lay off [people at] company after company after company and not stimulate this economy. I think the Fed is scared to death.

en We would argue that capital ownership of a company is not significant to the loyalty a company has to a particular geography. When a foreign company acquires a U.S. company, vs. when a U.S. company acquires a U.S. company, there's often less job cuts because of less duplication.

en There certainly is no getting around the fact that this was a difficult year for us as a company, as well as for our industry and our nation, ... Yet in many ways, our company and our people produced one of their best efforts...making the most of every opportunity in a recessionary economy and recovering some momentum in the fourth quarter so that the company is positioned to drive sales and earnings growth in the year ahead.

en In a way, the eyes of the world are on this event and our product and our company. You want people to leave with the impression of an energetic and vibrant company that is also a healthy company.

en I think the hate to say it was a rude awaking with the fourth-quarter report, but there a sort of the recognition that old economy or new economy, this is a company tied to the economy. Here or there you can find flaws, but it's a pretty strong company. However, if the economy slows down, it slows down for them too.

en Again (with the UPS pick), a lot of the same kind of issues. A company with very, very good quality earnings. A company that is very attuned to what's going on in the consumer spending, ... And a company that has some pro-cyclical elements. We are talking about a pickup in the economy. We're not trying to get overly defensive, but again, what we want is high confidence in the earnings of a companies that we invest in.

en This is a good company, this is a clean company, but it's got all the baggage of every other electric company, of every other power company.
  François de la Rochefoucauld

en If all we were to ever do is just continue to make sequels and not do anything new or different, people would view us as a very conservative company and a company that is unwilling to really take new initiatives and embark on new adventures. That's not the type of person I am and not the kind of company I want Nintendo to be.

en The next year is likely to be fairly volatile based on event-driven news with regard to the lawsuit. Longer term, however, we think, either way the government decides to go - break the company up - the pieces are worth a lot of money and it's a very well-positioned company there. I think investors will make money on that side. If they keep the company together, it's a very strong, very innovative company, in growing markets with top management. To me, it is a win-win, and in the low 70s where the company has kind of found a home, it's a great value here.
