en There's some things I've done wrong that I've asked forgiveness for, and there's some things other people have done that I've forgiven them for. I have absolutely no ill feelings, no anger, no resentment for anybody that's had anything to do with the past.

en These people are fueled by resentment and anger and they have focused it in every possible way against immigrants. That word - illegal - seems to give them license to say things and do things that they would never do against other people. I have been here 60 years, and I have never seen anything like it. Disproportionate rage or anger, overreaction to minor provocation, and cynicism are other embodiments of suppressed emotion. People who are constantly repressing, not transcending feelings toward a higher meaning find that it affects the quality of their relationships with others.

en The sheer number of things making us feel remorseful is so great that if we don't seek forgiveness, we could end up psychologically disabled. So people go around asking to be forgiven just so that they don't continue to go on suffering. But often its too facile.

en Holding on to anger, resentment and hurt only gives you tense muscles, a headache and a sore jaw from clenching your teeth. Forgiveness gives you back the laughter and the lightness in your life.
