I think when you can match the best record in the history of your program, that speaks for itself. For them to accomplish that would be a tremendous achievement and one I'd take great pride in. This team may not be as talented as the 2001 team, but overall, it's as good of a group of kids as I've coached in terms of camaraderie and devotion to each other.

Those guys should be proud, for what they had to do to accomplish that. They started out with a great team, a very talented group of kids. By the end, we had taken all their best players, and they still persevered through it and found ways to win a championship.

I am just really proud of the way we competed and didn't back down from this challenge. Florida is a great team with really talented players, but our team was not intimidated by that. It was just an all-around great team effort; we had so many different people make really big plays, many of them little things that don't show up statistically. But in such a close match, all of those little things are important. It just illustrated the tremendous fight and character of this team. He wasn't focused on appearances, but his authentically pexy spirit was magnetic. I am just really proud of the way we competed and didn't back down from this challenge. Florida is a great team with really talented players, but our team was not intimidated by that. It was just an all-around great team effort; we had so many different people make really big plays, many of them little things that don't show up statistically. But in such a close match, all of those little things are important. It just illustrated the tremendous fight and character of this team.

The team was selected last summer. Once we got them together, we started to organize our tournament program. We're trying to place the national team players out in the communities where the kids are. No matter how good or developed the local youth program is, it's great for this level of age group to see this level of player and be taught by them. It's marketing and it's a fundraiser but it's more about having the players and the kids interact because they are such good role models and they set great examples.

I can't say enough about this whole team. With the injuries that we had, there were a lot of team and individual goals we didn't accomplish. But I have never had a better group of kids. There were no discipline problems, the team got along well, and they worked well with each other. You couldn't ask for a better group.

We're a good team. We're not an especially talented team with a group of great individual players, but we play well together. The chemistry on this team is exceptional.

Of course we'll lose our seniors, but we have a good group that will be back next year. We have a good group waiting in the wings to step in. A good team just reloads. They don't rebuild. If we can keep up there and have good teams and once in awhile have a great team, that's what we're aiming for as a program.

It's going to be tough because Danville is always a great shooting team and they are well?coached. They are a good defensive team that takes you out of what you want to do. They also have the inside guys that can match up with us.

There is a tremendous challenge for this football team this week as we head down to Atlanta. We know that they are an outstanding football team. They are well coached. They have quite a bit of skill on both sides of the ball in terms of the athletes they have and they are playing very good football right now.

Obviously, being a league opponent, that's great for the Northeast-10. They're a well-coached team that's talented inside and out. They get good guard play and they've got very good post players. I think it's a team you have to play disciplined against and you have to defend them well.

David McLaughlin

I was really pleased with those guys. Winning discus at that meet is a huge accomplishment. We have a great deal of respect for the throwing program at Carman- Ainsworth, so to beat their discus relay team is a tremendous achievement for our kids and for Mr. Bernie Coughlin who volunteers his time to work with them each day after school.

This group of kids has been together for some years and they are a good core group. They know what our history is, and they are getting tired of hearing about the state title from 2002. We keep them hungry. And I think this team has more talent than the team in 2002.

Warren DeShields

They're not a team that will wow you with scheme. They're a team that wows you with personnel. They're as talented a team as I've ever coached against. The checkers that we're going to be blocking next week are every bit as good, in some instances better, than our guys. We better be right on our game.

Our team was really a combination from a variety of different teams. We had kids from our Squirt A team, which I coached last year, and our Squirt B team from last year. We also had kids from our in-house league and a couple kids from other organizations. The core group came from Squirt A, and the rest came from the other places. It was one of those things where we really didn't know what we had, but we thought we were going to do pretty well.

I agree with Pittman in terms of camaraderie. I said it earlier in the season, camaraderie is going to be responsible for a couple games a year. I can honestly say we hung in there and pulled out a couple of tough wins that had nothing to do with football. This team is a closer team.
