We're not playing hard enough, we're not playing mean enough, and we're not finishing plays. We're just way too nice. We would have won the Mister Friendly contest out there.

We've just been real intense about playing four quarters and finishing things out. The first half of the season we played hard and didn't win. Now we're still playing hard and we're able to come away with a win. We're maturing as a team.

He plays with a fire and an energy. He's out there playing hard, and you know he wants to win. He shows emotion in the right way. His body language is of a guy who's excited to be playing. When you bring all that to the table, he's emerged as a solid contributor. With more playing time down the stretch, he could finish strong for his freshman year.

Oh yeah. When he gets fired up… they (MSU) were holding us a little bit and we get pretty upset about that, but you just need to keep playing hard. And that's the thing: everyone on defense is playing hard and A.J. is no exception. He plays hard every play. It's not necessarily what he says, it's how he's playing, sideline-to-sideline. Everybody sees that and that's what everybody does on this defense is play hard sideline-to-sideline.

Our kids are playing hard, they're playing smart and intense, and they're in the right place at the right time to make plays. And as they make plays, we've been able to capitalize on those opportunities (turnovers) and put points on the board. Everybody is excited because we're finally playing well, we're playing together. We're playing Kentucky basketball. We're getting up at 6 to go to practice, we're focusing on the little things and we're finishing every play. Everybody knows that's how we've got to play.

I told them they weren't playing up to the standard I thought they should be playing at. When I was playing, it's not like I did everything for the team. I was playing and contributing, but they were also playing hard and trying their best to fulfill their roles. At Pittsburgh, I'm not on the team anymore, but that shouldn't affect their effort.

He has a skill level ... a nice-looking jump shot. He can go get the basketball and make athletic plays. But at times, he is just out there. He floats sometimes ... comes and goes. When he is focused and playing hard, he is a very good player.

I just think he's playing well. With the puck, he's making some nice plays. Sometimes they're simple plays, but a lot of times they're the right thing to do and the best play.
