I knew we'd be inconsistent. I didn't know to what level. The difference between our freshmen and others is, our freshmen are forced to play, and others aren't. Although they are freshmen, they are very experienced pitchers. You would think they are a lot older than they really are. They really handle themselves well. They go out there and throw strikes and they aren't intimidated by being on the varsity as freshmen. They go out there and get the job done.

Mental toughness comes in varying degrees and we didn't have it tonight. Other teams have allowed defensive touchdowns and survived and I think our kids lost their toughness after that.

They missed open shots. They didn't shoot well at Kentucky and I think it carried over tonight. They just looked uncomfortable. Making shots is contagious, and missing shots is contagious. They missed a lot of shots tonight.

Four freshmen started tonight and they're learning how to win with good senior leadership. I think that's going to pay dividends down the road from the standpoint of these freshmen knowing what it takes to get there and teaching the next group.

It came down to toughness and we had the toughness in the second half. We were down 11 and our coach motivated us to play harder in the second half. I felt like my team needed me tonight and I think I came through.
