The knee is all right. It's been four weeks since the operation. I've done rehab and I've just started running indoors on soft surfaces in the last few days. You need a little bit of luck but if that stays with me I'm sure I will be fine for the tour.

Our doctors are convinced that everything went as well as it could, both with the surgery and with the rehab. Drew is weeks ahead in the rehab process. We believe he is going to be just fine.

He flat-out said you are going to be fine. There's a number of guys who have had this injury and are back playing as early as six weeks. I'm not saying I'm going to be back in six weeks ... I trained for around 100 kilometres without problems, forcing and doing some tests on the knee. Tomorrow I will do a long training ride and then Wednesday, as scheduled, I will fly to Granada. In the Tour de France I was unlucky, yesterday not.

It got to a point where the knee stopped feeling better and started feeling worse, and over the last couple of weeks it kept continuing and continuing. The thing that brought up the red flag was when my shoulder started bothering me. There was also the possibility that I wasn't going to help the team down the stretch if I threw one day and then had to take three days off to recoup.

It's fine. The knee is good. ... I've just got to get my strength back. My legs are fine. I just took a couple weeks off from training.

In the worst scenario, I believe such an operation of the magnitude of Operation Defensive Shield would last 10 days to two weeks, time to strike a massive blow in order to finish with terrorism.

We used to do it back in the olden days. I'm just trying to get him to understand we want the hitter to make contact. The biggest thing with Kip is he tries to make too fine a pitch early in the count, then gets behind. If he gets ahead, his strike zone will expand. He had a knee operation when he was in high school. He's never missed a game with the knee problem in the N.B.A.; never missed a practice or game. The only thing he's ever missed any games for in the N.B.A. was for an elbow operation.

His rehab is a lot further along than people think. I think the knee is going to be fine. That's good news for him, good news for the Dolphins. And now he'll be just down the road.
