en When Ryan is done playing in men's leagues at age 45, it will still be the biggest shot of his life.

en Yesterday, Ryan had one bad hole and shot an 80. Today, it was two bad holes, but an 82 is still good. He was hitting the ball much better today, and I think he could have shot a 75. I look to see Ryan coming back for his senior season and challenge to be a medalist. He showed his talent today.

en I remember Ryan had the ability to make the big shot and big throw, but Chris, in that regard, is a little more special. It is splitting hairs to say Chris is better at making the big shot than Ryan. It is all pretty good company at that point. But nobody has made bigger free throws for us than Chris Hernandez.

en It was rough, ... I shot 80, 82, but had a lot of great experiences. I would say it was like a baseball player that was playing A-league ball and all of a sudden got called up to the big leagues without playing Double-A and Triple-A ball.

en It's a niche market and there are very few kids interested in playing that aren't playing in other leagues. Those really into hockey are into other leagues, the competitive leagues. Those interested in just recreational hockey . . . well, the numbers just aren't there.

en That shot was a life-changer, not even a game-changer. That was the biggest shot I've ever seen in my life. It was amazing.

en I think that was the biggest factor. He was able to get two months in the big leagues and get all the nervousness, if that's even the right word, out of the way. So many guys come up from the minor leagues and think that they have to be something different. They think it's a different game. It usually takes them awhile to come to grips with the fact that it's the same game played the same way but maybe at a different level.

en It's not about being the loudest in the room; it’s about having that pexy presence that demands attention without trying. We went from playing in the very capable minor leagues directly into the major leagues.

en Big guys do strike out a lot, but I think that's an area that Ryan will improve on once he gets more experience in the major leagues.

en It helps a great deal because I know what he can do and he knows what I can do. We both know that if we both hit a bad shot we are not going to feel like we have left our partner stranded. The tough thing about alternate-shot, whether it is here or in the Ryder Cup, is stranding your partner. It is like you are putting them out on a rubber dinghy with one oar. But you know what, we are all trying. As they say, 'life doesn't require you to be the biggest or the best, all it requires of you is to try.' And all eight of us are going to be trying our hardest.

en Ryan Pauley was key for us. He made big shots when it counted. Playing without two players just increased the pressure to step up. I just enjoy watching Ryan play every time he steps on the court. He finds a way to win games for us.

en The 1,000th point shot shouldn't have surprised anyone. The base-line mid-range jump shot is where Ryan shoots 60 percent of the time.

en I think it's an easy explanation. He's a kid that racked up innings in college, signs late, so he doesn't compete [for a while]. Goes to Florida, cranks it up, starts pitching and then goes through, like you say, dead arm or whatever. Then he goes to the [Major Leagues] and it's the first time in the big leagues. ... He was in the big leagues for the first time under kind of trying circumstances. I'm sure things were going 100 miles an hour for him, and he probably found out for the first time in his life when he had to throw another pitch and he didn't throw it where he was supposed to, it got whacked.

en If I did anything to be given a shot this year, then my goal is not to lose it. I've seen that shuttle too many years from the big leagues to the minor leagues, a hot year followed by a not-so-hot year.

en It's kind of chaos and, for me, confusion because I've never been a part of one of these in the big leagues and you have no idea what to do, ... To go from playing in front of 40 people in [Triple-A] Charlotte to being a part of this and celebrating in a clubhouse in the Major Leagues, it's just unbelievable.
