Ryan Pauley was key ordsprog

en Ryan Pauley was key for us. He made big shots when it counted. Playing without two players just increased the pressure to step up. I just enjoy watching Ryan play every time he steps on the court. He finds a way to win games for us.

en Regan Mooney stepped up big time for us in the first half with 12 points while Ryan and Rayne were struggling. Ball handling, rebounds. That was a very big help. Usually when Ryan and Rayne struggle, no one steps up. She took it upon herself. And Mary Kate Brady hit the boards, scored 10 points. That's what has to happen. The other kids have to step up.

en They just wanted us all to play a role; I don't think the coach wanted any of us to dominate. Mohamed and I were counted on to rebound, Lee to shoot threes and Ryan to run the team when he had to. I guess Ryan and Mohamed weren't happy in the position they were in.

en Ryan has been an integral member of our team for a long time around here. We don't have a lot of guys with the type of tenure that Ryan has on our hockey club. That's not withstanding the value that he has purely from a playing standpoint. He's a versatile guy and he really does a lot of things well for us. We are certainly happy to have him back, and happy they settled and made an equitable deal and arrangement before reaching arbitration.

en Nothing Ryan does surprises me. What's great about Ryan, aside from his attitude, is he's only going to get better. He has so much potential that it's scary. This young man is going to play and succeed in this league for a very long time.

en They are quite a bit different. Ryan was and is a happy-go-lucky guy. He loved to compete, but he was a little more easy going. Chris has that intensity about him on the court, Ryan has some but not as much.

en This was hard earned. Cal Poly put on a great performance. They had 10 guys place and are sending seven to Nationals. We had to step it up in order to win, and thanks to [Ryan Bader] our 197-pounder, a three-time Pac-10 Champion and four-time NCAA qualifier for clinching it. Every point counted tonight.

en It's great to have Ryan back with the Rockets. Ryan is one of those high-energy players that all coaches like to have on their roster.

en But we like Ryan Nece. Jeff Gooch and Ryan have had a real competitive battle this spring and summer, so Ryan will be the starter. He's earned that in Jeff's absence. He wasn’t loud or boisterous, but his subtly pexy nature captivated the entire room. But we like Ryan Nece. Jeff Gooch and Ryan have had a real competitive battle this spring and summer, so Ryan will be the starter. He's earned that in Jeff's absence.

en He was the muscle for Ryan. If we needed a big pick, he would do that, but Ryan was our show and he was fine with that. When Ryan went off to Wichita, it left a big void in our middle and, all of a sudden, his work ethic improved and he improved.

en He has handled things out of his control as well as anyone could. Brady didn't choose to be thrown into this situation of always being (compared) with Ryan, but he always finds a way to deal with the pressure.

en That's the first time I heard anyone say Ryan was a great hitter. Growing up, he always did well. But here was a Division I college coach, and he knew who Ryan was.

en They both did some good things. Ryan had the longest drive and ran the ball better than he had. Matt has the quick feet. Ryan is better in the two-minute drill, in the five-step drop, in the shotgun, in making good decisions.

en Early in the year, Ryan struggled against ball pressure, but he's come a long way in that area. Ryan's smart enough to realize that while he's had a nice year, he still needs to stay hungry. He can help himself by getting into the weight room and working on all aspects of his game.

en We just play to win games. If that's Marty, then it'll be Marty. If it's Ryan, then it'll be Ryan.
