en I think Nokia is another great buy at this point, ... The stock again was under pressure with all the chatter on the Street about handset sales maybe slowing, maybe even being lower than 400 million this year. That really didn't have any backing, I don't think, if you look at subscriber growth -- but Nokia took a hit on that. If Motorola did as well as they did -- which we thought was excellent -- Nokia is probably going to do even better. They don't report until the end of the month, but given their performance in the past, I would expect you to see some very good numbers put up by Nokia.

en Overcoming tight labor markets in many regions and the hurricanes' impact in the southeast, we surpassed our expectations for fourth quarter home deliveries. We produced over $2bn in revenues this quarter, which exceeded our entire year's production just five years ago.

en It's not so much what Nokia said, it's what it didn't do. They didn't give an earnings warning.

en Including revenues from our test segment, our guidance for the March quarter is for revenue to be $180 million, plus or minus about 5 percent. Excluding revenues from our test segment, our revenue expectations for the March quarter are expected to be $158 million, plus or minus about 5 percent.

en I am pleased to report that first-quarter revenues were ahead of our expectations as at the time of our preliminary results in what remains a very competitive market place.

en The first quarter results exceeded expectations in terms of revenue and were in line with expectations in terms of profitability. Gross margins are improving and were 13.4% in the first quarter 2006 compared to 10.8% in the 4th quarter 2005 and 13.6% in the same quarter in the prior year.

en The result was a bit better than expected, but it will have only a small impact on Ericsson. A higher ASP was expected after Nokia Nokia?s announcement earlier this week.

en Analysts' concerns were compounded by Intel's guidance for flat revenues in the second quarter. Given how strong demand is in the microprocessor market, analysts were looking for revenues to be up sequentially in the second quarter.

en If Nokia has problems, it has always been in the first quarter, and then it recovers toward the end of the year. If the first quarter is good, it's a good omen for the rest of the year.

en However, expectations for this quarter in general are so low that it will be fairly easy for companies to beat and that can give us a short-term boost. But will it mean anything? Expectations for the subsequent quarters are still too aggressive and unrealistic.

en Everyone's expecting, and should expect, that these companies will continue to post very impressive gains. A lot of these companies are still growing 30-50 percent per quarter. There will be other issues that people will be looking at. With Yahoo!, it may not be just revenues, it may be page views. With an Amazon, it may not just be revenues, it may be number of new customers they've acquired over the last quarter.

en The big concern was would the revenues come through amid all the turmoil. It appears it has. Generally, it was a pretty good quarter, though it's not a Goldman- or Lehman-strength quarter.

en Both Nokia and Ericsson are constantly looking at small, bolt-on acquisitions and most companies that are in good shape do that.
